Conservative: Nobel-Winning Hack Attack

In an echo of the 51 intel โ€œexpertsโ€ who stomped on The Postโ€™s laptop scoops in 2020, marvels National Reviewโ€™s Noah Rothman, comes a letter from 16 Nobel-winning economists who โ€œinsist that Donald Trumpโ€™s proposed economic policies risk exacerbating inflationโ€ and โ€œassured Americans that Joe Bidenโ€™s economic-policy preferences are entirely unimpeachable.โ€ Huh? โ€œDumping unprecedented sums of taxpayer dollars into the private economy at a time when too much money was already chasing after too few goodsโ€ wasnโ€™t inflationary? And โ€œthese experts further maintain that inflation shouldnโ€™t even persist as a going concern for most voters.โ€ The economists โ€œrely on their credentials,โ€ not any โ€œcogent argumentโ€: โ€œThat reckless, self-indulgent impulse is why American institutions across the board are suffering from a credibility crisis.โ€

Libertarian: SCOTUS Defies Extremism Tag

The โ€œpanic associated with the current makeup of the Supreme Courtโ€ has โ€œhas crescendoed more dramatically than the most tortured Tchaikovsky symphony,โ€ fumes Reasonโ€™s Billy Binion. But for all the claims that the โ€œconservative majority is both extreme and radical,โ€ the truth is that โ€œthe justices agree a lot of the time.โ€ I.e., โ€œof the 18 rulings released from December to April this term, 15 of them were unanimous.โ€ And most of the โ€œinfamous 6-3 splitsโ€ this term โ€œhave not fallen on the standard party-line divide.โ€ All the โ€œfearmongeringโ€ even โ€œwhen basic realityโ€ shows the opposite โ€œreminds us of how manufactured this panic can be.โ€

From the left: We Must Re-Embrace Free Speech

โ€œAcademic freedomโ€ was once embraced โ€œas a core principleโ€ among progressives, โ€œbut in recent years, we changed tack and encouraged the suppression of conservative voices on our campuses. Now, the same justificationsโ€ are โ€œbeing used to silence us,โ€ warns Tascha Shahriari-Parsa at The Nation. In October, the Harvard Law Reviewโ€™s editors blocked a piece concluding โ€œthat Israel is committing genocideโ€ โ€” partly because of an idea โ€œprogressive students have popularized: that we must protect ourselves, and each other, from harmful speech.โ€ โ€œProgressive students have broadened the meaning of student โ€˜safetyโ€™: from the absence of physical violence to the absence of emotional distress.โ€ But โ€œif we continue silencing speech that offends us,โ€ there will be โ€œno one left to challenge the status quo of ideas.โ€

Spy watch: How James Clapper Rigs Elections

โ€œTwo days before the presidential debate between Trump and Clinton,โ€ observes RealClearInvestigationsโ€™ Paul Sperry, then-National Intelligence Director James Clapper issued an โ€œunprecedented intelligence advisoryโ€ with then-President Barack Obamaโ€™s blessing that lent โ€œcredence to what the Clinton camp was telling the media โ€” that Trump was working with Russian President Vladimir Putin through a secret back channel to steal the election.โ€ โ€œIn 2020, he was the lead signatory on the โ€˜intelligenceโ€™ statement that discredited the New York Postโ€™s October bombshell exposing emails from Hunter Bidenโ€™s laptop.โ€ โ€œIn effect, the Intelligence Community conspiredโ€ first with the Clinton and then with the Biden campaign โ€” and โ€œClapperโ€™s well-timed pseudo-intelligence in 2016 and 2020โ€ crippled the Trump presidency and โ€œarguably denied him reelection.โ€

From the right: Joeโ€™s Student-Loan Bait & Switch

President Biden claimed the Supreme Court hadnโ€™t stopped him last summer when it ruled against his โ€œsweepingโ€ $400 billion student-loan cancellation, as he quickly rolled out his similar $475 billion SAVE forgiveness plan, recall The Wall Street Journalโ€™s editors. Yet on Monday, federal judges tapped by President Barack Obama blocked most of that plan, too โ€” with one blasting it as โ€œan enormous and transformative expansion in statutory authority without clear congressional authorization.โ€ The SAVE plan was yet โ€œanother cynical exercise to buy votes, and Biden officials had to know they were stretching the law. As a result, millions of borrowers who were counting on lower payments and forgiveness are in limbo. Donโ€™t young people get tired of being played as pawns by this President?โ€
