Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is introducing a motion to vacate against Speaker Mike Johnson next week she announced.
She held a press conference with Rep. Thomas Massie outside of the US Capitol to make the announcement.
Greene said, βI think every member of Congress needs to take that vote and let the chips fall where they may. And so next week, I am going to be calling this motion to vacate.β
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., announced plans to introduce a motion to vacate against Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday.
Greene was joined by Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., at a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. The pair said they will bring the motion next week, blasting Johnson after he received an endorsement from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-NY.
Democrats have promised to save Mike Johnson.
But itβs also a move that is all but certain to fail after Democratic leaders said they would vote to protect the Speaker from her coup attempt.
Forcing a vote on the motion to vacate resolution β which Greene filed against Johnson more than a month ago β will compel the chamber to act on the measure within two legislative days.

The announcement, made before a sea of reporters just outside the Capitol, followed weeks of Greene attacking Johnsonβs leadership style and threatening to remove him from power β but declining to force action on her motion-to-vacate resolution, prompting widespread speculation that she was backing away from the effort after Johnson received a glowing review from former President Trump.
