POLITICS: It is so easy to mock the sick and rudderless Democrats

It’s not very sportsmanlike to mock your opposition when you’re winning, but sometimes, the temptation is overwhelming.

Having resisted the urge to launch cheap shots at Democrats since Donald Trump’s inauguration, my resolve crumbled over two stories that encapsulate the party’s moral bankruptcy and refusal to change direction.

Story 1: Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, a Dem, backed legislation that redefines mothers as “inseminated persons.”

The budget bill, introduced Friday, also replaces “father” with “parent” over 120 times, Republican State Rep. Amanda Nedweski complained in a Facebook post.

“As a proud mother of two, it is absolutely insulting that the Governor, in his 2025-27 budget bill, would reduce me and millions of other mothers across Wisconsin to ‘inseminated persons.’ ”

Yes, but don’t expect Dems to complain. “Gender-neutral” language erasing mothers and fathers is their Holy Grail. Orwellian constructions such as “pregnant people” and “inseminated persons” are the inevitable result, and they don’t seem to care that most Americans are offended.

Story 2: Deep blue Connecticut’s Democrat-appointed, social worker-heavy Psychiatry Security Review Board approved the early release from a secure mental hospital of a cannibal axe murderer who ate his victim’s brain and eyeball with chopsticks and washed it down with a glass of sake.

Cannibal freed

Tyree Smith, 48, who killed and ate Angel “Tun Tun” Gonzalez in 2011, was deemed “not guilty by reason of insanity” by three judges and sentenced to 60 years in a maximum-security psychiatric facility.

But on Friday, the board, whose six members were appointed by Connecticut’s Democrat Gov. Ned Lamont, and only one of whom is an actual psychiatrist, decided in a majority decision that, despite the protests of both his and his victim’s families, Smith should get out 50 years early because he promised to take his meds.

The board concluded that Smith was not “experiencing cravings” to eat human flesh, but he would “reach out to his hospital” if he had the urge. That’s reassuring. Not.

Four Republican state senators issued a joint statement condemning Smith’s conditional release as “mind-boggling . . . In what universe is this OK?”

In the Democrat universe, it seems, because there hasn’t been a peep from a single Dem lawmaker even to try to quell public disquiet about the possibility of a killer cannibal roaming the streets without his meds.

Republican State Rep. Devin Carney pointed out that “when the board was asked if Smith was likely to re-offend if he fails to take his medications, they said he was more than likely to do so . . . The decision to trust an insane murderer’s promise to not re-offend is far too risky of an agreement to make.”

Under Connecticut law, the board is required to balance public safety with the well-being of the insane person — but most people would say that Smith should probably finish his sentence.

Carney has been pushing a bill in the state Legislature to force the board to make “the protection of society its ‘primary concern’ and the well-being of the acquitted its ‘secondary concern.’ ”

Sounds like common sense. So, of course, Connecticut’s progressive Dem supermajority won’t support it.

And if Smith heads to the informal loony bin of the New York subway to feast on a straphanger, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg has made sure there won’t be a Daniel Penny to rescue us.

That’s the Democrat approach to law and order, in which the untrammeled freedom of psychopaths, psychotic killers and thugs is more important than our right to walk freely on the streets built with our taxes.

Is it any wonder that the Democratic Party’s popularity has sunk to record lows?

It’s not Trump’s fault Dems are out in the cold, reduced to waving their canes around in futile protest as they caterwaul 1930s union songs. Nobody wants what they’re selling.

They’ve resorted to temper tantrums and foul language as they realize their magic gaslighting trick no longer works. All they have is “Elon is a d–k” and “F–k Trump.”

It’s pathetic.

Demonstrating their impotence last week were Sen. Adam Schiff and four other pale male Dems — amazing that’s still allowed — who set up a small podium in the freezing cold outside the FBI building to protest against Kash Patel.

Whether they were staging a rally that nobody attended or just a pointless press conference, it was a feeble showing. Their hearts weren’t in it and Patel was confirmed as FBI director a few hours later, leading to panic from former CIA director and anti-Trump trickster John Brennan.

“I’m on Kash Patel’s enemies list,” he wailed on MSNBC.

Panic mode

Instead of coming up with a plausible alternative vision for America, Dems are reduced to filing dozens of lawsuits trying to block Trump’s executive orders and fear-mongering about Elon Musk’s DOGE audit of the federal government.

They’re in full-blown panic mode as Musk’s high IQ crew uncovers all sorts of grift and corruption that has become their party’s watchword.

It’s hard to spin these damning revelations that pour out of DOGE day after day, like the $2 billion grant awarded last April to a brand new nonprofit associated with failed Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams.

“We don’t know what all they have on us,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) wailed to a congressional hearing.

Meanwhile, the Dems’ most faithful media apologists are falling like flies because nobody is listening to their lies any longer. The latest victim is MSNBC’s chief race-baiter “Joyless” Reid, who lost at least half her viewers since the election. Her prime-time show “The ReidOut” will go off air for good this week, per The New York Times.

When House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries went on CNN Sunday to spin the fantasy of Democrat ascendancy and Republican collapse, even Jake Tapper had to bring him down to earth.

“But, congressional Republicans’ polling is about 40%. Congressional Democrats’ polling is about 20%. So, that’s an issue for you,” Tapper said through gritted teeth.

Democrats have no answer, no message, no leader. The best they can muster for 2028 is Kamala Harris, the first candidate in 90 years who failed to flip a single county.

“Some see the flames on our horizons, the rising waters in our cities, the shadows gathering over our democracy,” Harris opined last week when she accepted an award for “leadership” from the NAACP.

“And [we] ask, what do we do now?”

Harris doesn’t have a clue, and neither do any of her stablemates.

But that’s not good for America. We need two parties competing against each other for a healthy democracy.

Let’s hope the Dems get their act together. Just not too soon.
