Speaker Johnson Holds News Conference on Day 41 of Government Shutdown
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) spoke with reporters on day 41 of the government shutdown, following preliminary action in the Senate over the weekend to end the funding lapse and pass a continuing resolution. Speaker Johnson spoke briefly about the plans to finalize government funding over the next few days, saying that he would “call all House members to return to Washington as quickly as possible” once the Senate casts their final vote to end the shutdown. The Speaker did not take any questions from reporters following his remarks
