Joe Biden is considering dropping his re-election bid according to a new report.
The New York Times reported, “The president is seriously considering whether he can recover after a devastating performance on the debate stage in Atlanta on Thursday.”
Joe Biden is said to be seriously considering leaving the election race and thinks that he has only four days to save his presidential campaign.
Allies of the US president told The New York Times that the 81-year-old thinks his campaign will be in “a different place” by Sunday if he does not perform well in a television interview and two campaign rallies in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Citing anonymous sources, The New York Times wrote that “the president is seriously considering whether he can recover after a devastating performance on the debate stage in Atlanta on Thursday”.
The comments mark the first acknowledgement that Mr Biden himself is concerned about his position, after denying that he had any intention to leave the contest in public statements in the last six days.
A Biden campaign aide called the reporting false.
Quentin Fulks, a top Biden-Harris campaign aide, called reporting from the New York Times “false” during an interview on CNN Wednesday.

When asked if Biden’s upcoming interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and recent poor polling will play into Biden’s decision to stay into the race, Fulks said, “I don’t think that those are going to make a decision.” He added that the campaign wants the events to go well, but Fulks does not “think that [these events have] a bearing on whether somebody is going to continue running for president of the United States.”
“Obviously there were 90 minutes of a poor debate performance,” said Fulks, the campaign’s deputy principal campaign manager, “but that does not define the record of accomplishments, that does not define the vision, that President Biden has.”
“The president has been having conversations with a number of Democratic leaders,” Fulks said. “I think what we’re sensing from people is a sense of urgency and fear from Donald Trump.” He said Biden has been reassuring these leaders that he is still in this race.
