Kin Shriner is detailing a scary health incident.
The “General Hospital” star, 71, took to social media on June 30 to share an update on his life, almost a year after leaving the long-running soap opera in August 2024.
“[A] year ago tomorrow, I had some arrogant surgeon give me a subtalar fusion,” Shriner began in the video posted to X. “And he botched it.”
The surgery is most commonly performed to treat severe arthritis of the foot. The procedure involves permanently fusing the bones in the subtalar joint, as per the Cleveland Clinic.
“So for six months, I basically couldn’t walk,” continued Shriner. “So then John Stamos, my good pal, sent me over to his guy at Cedars Sinai. He redid it.”
Stamos played Blackie Parrish on the soap from 1982 to 1984.
Now, the “Port Charles” vet is on the mend.
“So I’m down here in old Fort Lauderdale rehabbing this foot, every day,” Shriner explained. “Every day so that I can get mobile.”
“I’m getting attendance records at this Powerhouse Gym,” he shared. “You gotta get it back. Something goes wrong, you fix it. Or you try to. Anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to.”
Before signing off, Shriner promised fans another update in the future, “So stay tuned. I will be mobile soon. Very soon.”
The “Vendetta” alum captioned the footage, “News flash from Fla Scotty @GeneralHospital not just eating glazed donuts he working hard to fix foot and get back to Vespa and all other things !!!!!!”
Shriner played the iconic Scott Baldwin in over 1,700 episodes of “General Hospital” from 1977 to 2024. He reprised his role on the short-lived spin-off, “Port Charles,” from 1997 to 2002.
The star was written off of “General Hospital” after more than 40 years as the Port Charles villain.
In 2023, Shriner tweeted on X, “I just found out Scotty @GeneralHospital was written out…”
However, he still appeared on the show until last summer.
In September, Shriner seemingly confirmed the news to fans on X.
One viewer took to the social media platform to question why Scott had just disappeared with no mention, stating: “Wow, nothing like disrespecting your longest serving character…#GH.”
Kin retweeted the post, adding, “I don’t understand any of it, I went to get glazed donuts and coffee for the doctor !!”
Then, days later, Shiner wrote beneath a shot of Peter Hansen and Susan Brown, who played his on-screen parents: “2 of the many actors that made it possible for me to have a 47 year run on @GeneralHospital and 7 other soaps. Time to do the other things I missed out on while trying to keep Scotty relevant to now !!!!!”
Just last month, Shriner shared that his former “General Hospital” dressing room had been passed down to a new cast member on set.
“This day comes for all actors kin who !!! all u can do is wash it down with a martini and know that people want to take a pic with u every day,” he said on X. “I had a great run thanks @GeneralHospital fans for decades of support !!!”
Shriner shared a black-and-white picture of the dressing room door, with the name “Jens Austin Astrup” on it.
Astrup plays Kai Taylor on the long-running series.
However, fans flocked to X to show their support, with one follower writing, “Dressing room or not… Your Scotty fans will never forget YOU!”
“Yeah I do miss Scotty he was always misunderstood!!,” Shriner replied.
Over the years, Shriner also starred in “As the World Turns,” “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
“General Hospital,” meanwhile, is no stranger to cast shakeups these days.
Earlier this month, Eva LaRue, who portrayed Natalia Rogers-Ramirez, the homophobic mother of Jacqueline Grace Lopez’s Blaze, shared she is exiting the show after only a year.
The “CSI: Miami” alum, 58, who previously rose to fame playing Maria Santos Grey on “All My Children,” told Soap Digest on Monday, “I was originally only supposed to be on the show for a couple of months.”
LaRue noted, “And it ended up being a much longer run, which was great — and really fun because there are so many ‘All My Children’ actors there and so it felt like home.”
Kelly Monaco, who starred as Sam McCall from 2003 to 2024, blasted the soap in August when they fired her after 21 years, claiming it was “retaliation.”
Shortly after, Brooklyn Rae Silzer, who portrayed Emma Drake for 13 years, was replaced by Braedyn Bruner.
Then, Leslie Charleson — who played Dr. Monica Quartermaine for almost 50 years — passed away from blunt force trauma in January.
In February, Cassandra James, who plays Dr. Terry Randolph, told The Post, “We’re all really saddened by the loss. And, to be honest, my favorite thing about Leslie is she had a really wonderful sense of humor.”
