Turkey’s president: U.S. waging ‘financial battle’ in opposition to Turkey

ISTANBUL (AP) — Turkey’s president is blaming the nation’s financial downturn on the United States and different nations that he claims are waging “war” in opposition to his nation.

Speaking Saturday within the northeastern province of Rize, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan mentioned , euros and gold had been “the bullets, cannonballs and missiles of the economic war being waged against our country.”

Erdogan promised supporters that Turkey was taking essential precautions to guard its financial system “but the most important thing is breaking the hands firing these weapons.”

Turkey was hit by a monetary shockwave this week as its forex nosedived over considerations concerning the authorities’s financial insurance policies and a commerce dispute with the United States.
