Tweens are at the age when action figures and Barbies might have been put away and the teen years are swiftly approaching, so what do you get them for the holidays? My own tween is incessantly parroting “6-7,” trading Pokemon cards, watching anime that’s too mature for his little brother, and reading “The Monkey King” and graphic novels like “Big Nate.” He’s starting to talk about crushes, begs for a phone and every day is developing his own identity and self-confidence.
But he still wants someone to say goodnight to, and although Santa might be spoken of with a wink now, it’s impossible to not feel just how in-between this stage of growing up is for him. Curious to know what other tweens, like mine, want this year I collected wish lists from tweens all over the world, from South Africa to Texas. I was surprised by how many analog items were requested (vintage is big among Generation Alpha), but also how much more advanced and posh these kids are, in comparison to my own tween years.
