Believe it or not, cats and dogs prefer flowing water over stagnant water. Itβs not just funner for everyone involved; experts say that itβs in their evolutionary heritage.
βWater fountains can deliver a lot of benefits for cats and dogs,β Dr. Danielle Bernal, a veterinarian who specializes in animal nutrition and works on-staff at Wellness Pet Company, previously told HuffPost. They provide fresher, cleaner water by βcontinuously filtering the water, reducing impurities and preventing bacterial growth.β Bernal also says: βFor cats especially, their evolutionary heritage often saw them seek out fresh water sources over stagnant ponds for their safety and wellbeing.β Using a water fountain βmimic[s] that preference βand encourages healthy water intake.
Lucky for you, we found a pet fountain on sale at a major discount. It has smart features like motion detection and a 4-liter water tank, plus reviewers say is easy to clean and incredible quiet. Usually $49.99, this water fountain is already 20% off at $39.99, but when you click βredeemβ and use coupon code X9HNZLUZ at checkout, you can grab it for an even-lower price of $27.99. Thatβs 44% off its list price!
This wireless device has a 135-ounce water tank and has three settings for water flow: continuous, intermittent and motion sensor. It has an ultra-quiet water pump and, perhaps best of all, wireless charging, letting you lift the fountain off its charging dock to refill it instead of fumbling to unplug numerous cords and balance that full tank back to the ground.
Its stainless steel water tray lets you wipe it clean between refills, too, and the battery works for up to 45 days before needing to charge again. It also has a blue LED light near its fountain window so you can view how much water is left, and it includes two replacement filters.
βI love how infrequently we have to charge these, but I also love that we have the option to plug them in, like if we are out of town and donβt want to worry about the charge dying,β says one reviewer. βWe have two cats and one dog [β¦] and all three of them drink from these fountains. I also really like that that the light turns red when the water is getting low.β
If youβre looking to upgrade that boring bowl of water or even monitor your catβs hydration schedule, consider grabbing this pet water fountain while itβs on sale now. Read on if you need more convincing for this happy cat investment.
β[β¦] Weβve had it and been using it for a few weeks now. (We still leave 2 other bowls out at different places in the house and on the porch so that there was plenty of water available. While they occasionally drink out of one of the plain stainless bowls occasionally and the dog drinks from the bowl on the porch when he is outside, they all 3 very much prefer the fountain. We have to check it every 2-3 days (yes, he drinks that much water) and change the filters about every 3 weeks but the water that comes into the top stays clean and clear. Weβve noticed that the dogs teeth seem to be doing better. We cannot hear it unless the water gets low or the filters need changed. The motion sensors work perfectly and since itβs in a fairly high traffic area it goes on enough that I havenβt had to run it intermittently.β β LynnTP (This review has been edited for length. βI love how infrequently we have to charge these, but I also love that we have the option to plug them in, like if we are out of town and donβt want to worry about the charge dying. We have 2 cats and 1 dog (50 lbs) and all three of them drink from these fountains (we purchased two). I also really like that that the light turns red when the water is getting low. These are easy to clean, and although not completely silent, the sound is not jarring or unpleasant, and itβs only when there is water running for a few seconds at a time.β β Sara
βWeβve had the Feelneedy cat fountain for over a year and it has been one of my best cat purchases!
We have 3 cats, one of which is diabetic, and another with thyroid issues. Both drink A LOT of water! Bowls were just not cutting it anymore. We love this fountain so much we just bought a second one for the upstairs.
Set up: The fountain is SUPER easy to set up right out of the box. Give it a quick wash, soak the filter, fill it up and youβre in business! Righ out of the box the pump had a decent amount of battery life as well.
Cleaning: We used to have a Drinkwell fountain, and it had so many nooks and crannies it was so difficult to keep clean that we went back to the bowls. The Feelneedy fountain is super easy to clean with a regular kitchen sponge, and they include a spoolie (mascara wand) for the few smaller areas which are easy to clean. Donβt forget to pull the small filter in the bottom of the pump out when cleaning it! Itβs easy to miss!
Volume: We have three cats that drink a lot of water, we only can go a few days with out needing to fill it up.
Settings/Battery: The pump can run on a continuous setting, intermittent, or motion activated. We run ours on motion activated, and it turns on quickly. The overall sound is gentle and quite relaxing. I generally keep the pumps plugged in so I never have to worry about charging them. We just went through a big move, and had them running unplugged for a few weeks and didnβt need to charge them during that time.
Overall our cats love this fountain, and we love how low maintaince it is! Cannot reccomend this one enough!β β Luna
