More than 150,000 users reported outages across Meta’s WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram apps as of Wednesday afternoon, according to DownDetector.com.
Instagram said its services were back online late Wednesday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, Reuters reported. The number of reports has come down to over 1,000 for both apps as of 6 p.m. ET.
More than 96,000 Facebook users reported issues accessing the app, with reports spiking just before 1 p.m., according to the website, which tracks service outages.
More than 69,000 Instagram users reported similar issues accessing the photo app, and more than 12,000 users reported an outage across WhatsApp, Meta’s secure messaging app, according to DownDetector.com.
“We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps,” Meta said in a post on X. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”
The reports came from users across the country, with a large concentration of reports coming from users in cities like New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco, according to maps on the website.
