Amenhotep III Tomb Reopens After Two Decades of Meticulous Restoration

Egypt has officially reopened one of the most significant royal tombs in the Valley of Kings after completing a remarkable 20-year restoration project. The tomb of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, who ruled ancient Egypt during its golden age from 1390 to 1350 BC, welcomed visitors again on October 4, 2025, marking a milestone achievement in international archaeological cooperation.

The Tomb’s Magnificent Architecture and Treasures

Amenhotep III’s tomb represents one of the largest burial chambers in the Valley of Kings, featuring a 36-meter-long, 14-meter-deep descending passageway that leads to three interconnected chambers. The main burial chamber housed the pharaoh himself, while two additional chambers were designated for his wives, Queens Tiye and Sitamun.
