FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Early this morning, Fort Lauderdale police launched an investigation into a shooting that left a woman injured. The incident occurred just before 7:30 a.m. on Northwest First Avenue near Sunrise Boulevard, where officers discovered the victim and swiftly transported her to a nearby hospital.

The crime scene remains active, with police tape cordoning off the area. Detectives and crime scene investigators have been diligently working since their arrival, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Several individuals have been seen speaking with officers, including one woman seated on the sidewalk and another near a property on the opposite side of the street. Two homes on the street appear to be central to the investigation, though details about the events leading to the shooting remain unclear.

This incident is one of at least two shootings under investigation by Fort Lauderdale police this weekend. On Saturday around 5 p.m., authorities responded to a separate shooting on Seventh Avenue, where a man sustained a leg injury and was taken to the hospital. While both incidents have heightened police activity in the area, there is currently no evidence to suggest they are connected.

The ongoing investigation into this morning’s shooting is intensifying, with police committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the violence. As the situation develops, updates will be provided to keep the community informed.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any information that could assist in the investigation. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department continues to prioritize community safety amid these recent events.
