Trump’s got Democrats scrambling all over Florida.
Leftists thought they could block him from getting honored in his own backyard.
And West Palm Beach commissioners just handed Donald Trump one victory that left liberals speechless.
West Palm Beach gives final sign-off after months of delays
West Palm Beach city commissioners voted 4-1 Monday night to allow ceremonial “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard” markers along a four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard between Palm Beach International Airport and Mar-a-Lago.¹
The vote came after a three-month delay supposedly for “further staff analysis” following objections from some residents who called the renaming “embarrassing” and accused Trump of being a “butcher and killer.”²
But city commissioners made clear they weren’t about to let a handful of protesters torpedo the whole thing.
Commissioner Joe Peduzzi warned there would be “consequences” if the city voted against honoring Trump, adding “we’re better off being followers” when it comes to maintaining relationships with state transportation officials.³
Commissioner Christina Lambert agreed the city needed to be “a good partner” with the Florida Department of Transportation and couldn’t afford to jeopardize that relationship.⁴
The Florida Legislature passed the renaming bill earlier this year and Governor Ron DeSantis signed it into law back in June.
Palm Beach County commissioners unanimously approved it in July by a 7-0 vote, followed by the Town of Palm Beach in September with another unanimous vote.⁵

One lone commissioner blocked Trump from getting honored
Commissioner Shalonda Warren cast the only dissenting vote Monday night.
Warren questioned why the state would name a street after a sitting President before his term ended and worried the Department of Transportation might later decide to add markers within city limits.⁶
“What happens then when they decide that they would like to add additional markers?” Warren asked.
City Attorney Kimberly Rothenburg assured commissioners the state only planned to place markers at two intersections outside city limits – at Southern and Kirk Road in unincorporated West Palm Beach and at Southern and South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach.⁷
Mayor Keith James’ administration originally tried to ram the renaming through without any public debate by placing it on the commission’s consent agenda back in September.
Warren forced them to pull it off the consent agenda, which allowed for discussion and a formal vote instead of quiet approval.⁸
The delay gave Trump opponents time to organize protests, but it didn’t matter.
Four commissioners understood that blocking Trump’s street designation would send a message to state officials that West Palm Beach wasn’t interested in cooperating.
The ceremonial designation won’t change any addresses or affect 911 emergency services.
Google Maps already started showing “President Donald J. Trump Boulevard” on the app even before West Palm Beach’s vote.⁹
Trump thanked Florida officials on Truth Social after Palm Beach County’s approval in July, calling it “an honor” that the state renamed the four-mile stretch near Mar-a-Lago.¹⁰
The Florida Department of Transportation will now move forward with erecting the new green-and-white ceremonial signs in the coming months.
State Representative Meg Weinberger, who sponsored the original legislation, celebrated the city’s decision by writing on X that “President @realDonaldTrump Boulevard” was coming soon and thanking everyone “from Palm Beach County to Tallahassee who supported this effort to honor the greatest President of our lifetime.”¹¹

West Palm Beach joins other cities across Florida and the nation that have renamed roads in Trump’s honor since he was first elected in 2016.
Hialeah renamed a four-mile stretch of Palm Avenue as “President Donald J. Trump Avenue” in December of last year, where Trump earned 75% of the vote during the 2024 election.¹²
Several other states including Montana and Oklahoma already adopted road names honoring Trump, while lawmakers in Arizona, Kentucky and Missouri are considering similar moves.¹³
Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate has been his primary residence since he changed his residency from New York to Florida in 2019.
The four-mile stretch of Southern Boulevard that will bear Trump’s name is one of the most visible routes in Palm Beach County, connecting the airport directly to the President’s iconic club.
Democrats spent months trying to block it but came up empty at every level.
The unanimous county and town votes followed by Monday’s 4-1 city vote proved Trump’s support in South Florida remains rock solid regardless of how much leftists complain.
Warren’s lone dissenting vote showed she was more worried about virtue signaling to anti-Trump activists than representing the will of Palm Beach County residents who overwhelmingly back the President.
