GAZA CITY, GAZA - JULY 20: Palestinian Hamas militants are seen during a military show in the Bani Suheila district on July 20, 2017 in Gaza City, Gaza. For the past ten years Gaza residents have lived with constant power shortages, in recent years these cuts have worsened, with supply of regular power limited to four hours a day. On June 11, 2017 Israel announced a new round of cuts at the request of the Palestinian authorities and the decision was seen as an attempt by President Mahmoud Abbas to pressure Gaza's Hamas leadership. Prior to the new cuts Gaza received 150 megawatts per day, far below it's requirements of 450 megawatts. In April, Gaza's sole power station which supplied 60 megawatts shut down, after running out of fuel, the three lines from Egypt, which provided 27 megawatts are rarely operational, leaving Gaza reliant on the 125 megawatts supplied by Israel's power plant. The new cuts now restrict electricity to three hours a day severely effecting hospital patients with chronic conditions and babies on life support. During blackout hours residents use private generators, solar panels and battery operated light sources to live. June 2017 also marked ten years since Israel began a land, sea and air blockade over Gaza. Under the blockade, movement of people and goods is restricted and exports and imports of raw materials have been banned. The restrictions have virtually cut off access for Gaza's two million residents to the outside world and unemployment rates have skyrocketed forcing many people into poverty and leaving approximately 80% of the population dependent on humanitarian aid. One year after the Hamas terror attack in Israel on October 7, 2023, the war continues with Hamas receiving significant funding from Iran. The attack, which occurred at the Nova Music Festival, left 1200 people dead and another 251 taken hostage by Hamas.

Pennsylvania Congressman Scott Perry (R-Pa.) told One America News that Iran is behind not just the terror attacks in Israel, but around the world.

According to Perry, “Iran is exporting terror around the globe, not only to the Middle East, that is where you are seeing the kinetic war at this time” Perry continued. “They have been and will continue to support terrorism around the globe, including to Central America and South America in our hemisphere, if allowed unchecked.”

There are sanctions against Iran regarding the export of oil, but the Biden-Harris administration has made exceptions to those restrictions on oil. Perry says, by making those exceptions, the United States is helping Iran to fund terror groups like Hamas.

“Iran has the ability to reach out and touch Israel, and that money is what allows them to do that and so it is a direct connection,” Perry argues. “That connection goes from Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, directly to Iran, and it uses your tax dollars to do it.”

“The Islamist regime in charge of Iran uses that money to support Hezbollah and Hamas and Islamic Jihad and the Houthis,” Perry continued. “They use that to do that materially . . .  through weapons and through propaganda and through fighting and training.”

Perry says the war will continue until Hamas stops attacking Israel.

“Hamas needs to lay down their arms. I suspect if they stop attacking Israel, Israel will be content to live among its neighbors peacefully, which is what it’s always wanted.” Perry said.

There has been mounting pressure on Israel from the United States to make a ceasefire deal and be restrained in its fighting with Hamas. Perry says this restraint comes from the top.

“While President Biden might be the President of the United States, and Kamala Harris wishes to be, they are appeasers of Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and Iran in general,” Perry said. “That is why I think you’re hearing the call from the top because then the other appeasers will follow suit.”

President Joe Biden has said he supports Israel, but Perry says Biden’s actions speak louder than words.

“Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Tim Walz would like you to believe what they say and disregard what they do,” Perry said.

“Unfortunately, we have to live with the consequences of what they do,” Perry continued. “And the consequences of that reality is that they are supporting Iran and its proxies while trying to disarm and have Israel stand down and be defenseless.”
