The Issue: President Trump’s endorsement of Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman for NY governor.
Congratulations to the Nassau County RINOs for driving out another conservative and pushing for one of their minions for New York’s governor (“MAGA man for gov.” Dec. 21).
Anyone familiar with his full electoral history knows Bruce Blakeman will be a disaster. I won’t be voting for him.

President Trump just destroyed New York state with his endorsement of Blakeman and his trashing of Rep. Elise Stefanik.
She would have made a splendid governor and saved us from the worst abuses of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and Albany Democrats.
Rather than voting for Blakeman, I’ll be staying home and letting Gov. Kathy Hochul carry the state.

Good for Bruce Blakeman; President Trump endorsing him is the best thing that could have happened.
Being the minion Blakeman is, with no brain to think anything other than what he’s told, he has no idea that Trump’s support is the kiss of death for his chances as governor.
Luckily, that’s good news for all of New York. Blakeman practically belongs in the jail cell next to his predecessor, Ed Mangano.
The two of them can put their names on the cell walls as if it’s their property — much like both have done on public property all throughout Nassau County.

It is a genuine disappointment that Trump didn’t endorse Stefanik before she dropped out of the race. If any Republican had a chance to beat Gov. Hochul in the gubernatorial election, it was her.
Stefanik has been loyal to Trump, but unfortunately, he was not loyal to her. With her outspokenness and winsome personality, my belief is that she could connect with New York’s Democrats.
While I hope that I’m wrong, I don’t believe Bruce Blakeman has a chance. Trump really blew it this time by endorsing his friend.

It’s time for some tough love, New York. If any of you think Blakeman has a shot at beating Gov. Hochul, you’re pathetic.

While Stefanik had an uphill battle in New York’s race for governor, it’s unfortunate she backed out.
As a former New Yorker, I believe she would have steered the state on a better path and kept Mamdani in check.
She wouldn’t have only brought common sense to Albany but fiscal responsibility, too. These qualities and her tenacity could’ve benefited New York.

The Issue: The MTA’s outlays of millions of taxpayer dollars on failing solutions to the fare-beating problem.
The MTA will continue to throw money at solving the fare-beating problem even though a foolproof solution to stopping this already exists (“Free ride just train unfare,” Kirsten Fleming, Dec. 22).
Floor-to-ceiling turnstiles have been in use for years to prevent free access to areas of importance. They would easily be adaptable to subway stations and would cost a fraction of what the MTA spends on researching a fix to a problem that’s costing hundreds of millions of dollars a year in lost revenue.

As the inept MTA continues to try to build a better mousetrap for fare beaters, the usual suspects continue to hop over, crawl under or force open the turnstiles, all to scam the system of paying the fee.
Here’s a novel idea: arrest the perpetrators.
