President-Elect Donald Trump is now trying to stop President Joe Biden and his administration from selling parts to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall.
Trump, according to Fox News, is doing so with a document that he recently filed with the courts.
To understand what Trump filed, some context is necessary.
We’ll start off by getting you, the reader, up to speed.
Background
Over the past year or so, the Biden administration has been trying to sell the materials that the U.S. government had purchased, under the Trump administration, to finish building a border wall between the United States and Mexico.
The reason why Biden is doing this is obvious: he is trying to sabotage Trump. We saw this from day one of Biden’s administration, when he reversed all of Trump’s border policies and even halted the construction of the border wall.
Trump has made it clear that one of his top priorities upon re-entering the White House will be fixing the southern border crisis. The president-elect has a multi-prong approach to this issue, and one of the prongs will be completing the border wall.
Now, the White House is selling border parts. In fact, they are essentially giving the parts away, considering that they are selling the parts at such low prices.
In response, some Republican-led states have brought forth a lawsuit trying to stop Biden in his tracks.
The latest
The legal effort, against Biden, is being led by Texas and Missouri.
Fox explains:
Texas and Missouri filed a motion earlier this week in a district court in the southern district of Texas to hold a status conference to determine if the government is in breach of the court’s permanent injunction from earlier this year. That injunction barred the Biden administration from using funds obligated for wall construction for anything other than that purpose.
Trump has now filed a document with the court looking to support Texas and Missouri’s effort.
The document, in part, reads:
The Court should issue an order directing the Defendants to immediately stop any ongoing sale of border-barrier materials to private parties pending the Court’s review of Defendant’s conduct, and the Court should swiftly conduct a searching examination of the Government’s conduct, by formal discovery if necessary, to examine the Government’s compliance with the law, the Constitution, and the Court’s injunction,
At the time of this writing, the court has not released its decision on the matter. A decision, however, is expected soon.
