In between his efforts to acquire Greenland and completing military operations in Venezuela, Donald Trump is actively pursuing prosecution of his enemies — demanding arrests of whomever was responsible for former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump ranted, “Everyone is asking about the Autopen? What was done is totally illegal, and anything signed that way is of “no further force or effect.” The person who “worked: the Autopen had no idea whether or not Biden approved of what he was doing.”

“There was no ORDER in writing, and it was an absolutely illegal act perpetrated by the Radical Left Insurrectionists who illegally ran the Biden Administration. Every one of them should be arrested for what they have done to our Country. They didn’t win the Presidency but, when you think of it, neither did Joe Biden. The whole thing was RIGGED. There must be a price to pay, and it has got to be a BIG ONE!” he concluded.

Trump remains enraged over Biden’s autopen

As Trump continues to cause controversy around the world with his questionable demands, he remains seemingly obsessed with the benign device historically used by many past presidents for signing routine items like letters and photographs.

While the Biden White House admittedly used an autopen for certain actions while he was traveling or for high-volume tasks like clemency requests, the controversy centers on its alleged use for major decisions without proper documentation of the president’s direct, contemporaneous authorization.

The House Oversight Committee released a report in October 2025 titled “The Biden Autopen Presidency,” accusing his aides of exercising presidential authority without his direct input.

These claims are central to a current investigation ordered by President Trump into the validity of Biden-era executive actions signed via autopen.

Trump also used an autopen

In a July 2025 interview, Biden told The New York Times that he made all the decisions regarding autopen-signed documents, and its use was for efficiency due to a high volume of orders, such as pardons.

Despite the political debate, legal experts suggest that the use of an autopen likely does not invalidate the legal standing of actions, as the Constitution does not explicitly require a physical signature.

In late 2025, Trump created a “Presidential Walk of Fame” in the White House — where, instead of a portrait of Biden, he displayed a gold-framed photograph of an autopen.

Despite criticizing Biden, Trump admitted to using the autopen himself but claimed he used it only for “very unimportant papers” and letters to supporters.

However, reports in late 2025 said the Justice Department reissued several of Trump’s recent pardons after discovering they bore identical electronic-style signatures, prompting critics to accuse him of hypocrisy.
