Georgia appeals court disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from the case against Donald Trump.

The Appeals Court wrote, “After carefully considering the trial court’s findings in its order, we conclude that it erred by failing to disqualify DA Willis and her office.”

Epoch Times reported:

A Georgia appeals court has disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from her election-related criminal case against President-elect Donald Trump, although the indictment still stands.

Trump and his co-defendants were charged in 2023 by Willis’s office for what they alleged was a scheme to illegally overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. They pleaded not guilty.

However, Willis’s case hit a snag in early 2024 after it was revealed that she engaged in a romantic relationship with the case’s then-special prosecutor, Nathan Wade. A Fulton County judge in March ruled that Willis could remain as prosecutor if Wade resigned, which he later did.

Trump and multiple co-defendants appealed the judge’s decision to the Georgia Court of Appeals, which rendered its decision on Willis on the morning of Dec. 19.

“After carefully considering the trial court’s findings in its order, we conclude that it erred by failing to disqualify DA Willis and her office,” the Georgia Court of Appeals wrote in its decision.

Donald Trump celebrated the ruling calling it “entirely dead.”

Fox News reported:

President-elect Trump reacted to the Georgia Court of Appeals decision to disqualify “corrupt” Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her team, telling Fox News Digital that the case “is entirely dead” and that the “wonderful patriots who have been caught up in this for years” should “receive an apology.”

“It was started by the Biden DOJ as an attack on his political opponent, Donald Trump,” he said, “They used anyone and anybody, and she has been disqualified, and her boyfriend has been disqualified, and they stole funds and went on trips.”

Trump said the case “should not be allowed to go any further.”

“There is no way such corrupt people can lead a case, and then it gets taken over by somebody else,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “It was a corrupt case, so how could it be taken over by someone else?”

“Therefore, the case is entirely dead,” Trump said. “Everybody should receive an apology, including those wonderful patriots who have been caught up in this for years.”
