Donald Trump announced the end of taxpayer funds to California’s high-speed rail project.

Trump blasted the project saying, “This project was Severely Overpriced, Overregulated, and NEVER DELIVERED.”

He also added, “This boondoggle, led by the incompetent Governor of California, Gavin Newscum, has cost Taxpayers Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and we have received NOTHING in return except Cost Overruns.”

Truth Social:

To the Law abiding, Tax paying, Hardworking Citizens of the United States of America, I am thrilled to announce that I have officially freed you from funding California’s disastrously overpriced, “HIGH SPEED TRAIN TO NOWHERE.” This boondoggle, led by the incompetent Governor of California, Gavin Newscum, has cost Taxpayers Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and we have received NOTHING in return except Cost Overruns. The Railroad we were promised still does not exist, and never will. This project was Severely Overpriced, Overregulated, and NEVER DELIVERED. Thanks to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, not a SINGLE penny in Federal Dollars will go towards this Newscum SCAM ever again. This was an ill-conceived and unnecessary project, and a total waste of Taxpayer money — But no more!

The voters authorized the project in 2008 – it was supposed to be up and running by 2020.

As of 2025, no tracks have been laid, and the price tag for it is over $100 billion.

ABC 10 reported:

Voters first authorized $10 billion in borrowed funds in 2008 under Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to cover about a third of the estimated cost, with a promise the train would be up and running by 2020.

Five years beyond that deadline, no tracks have been laid and its estimated price tag has ballooned to over $100 billion.

Scrutiny over the high-speed rail project has long existed but ramped up in early February when Trump called for an investigation into it.

“The train that’s being built between Los Angeles and San Francisco is the worst managed project I think I’ve ever seen,” Trump said at the time.

Great decision from the Trump administration!
