On Wednesday evening, Vice President Kamala Harris participated in another difficult interview, even though she was speaking with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, a favorable source. As highlighted earlier by Townhall reporter Matt Vespa, several notable moments emerged. Between this interview and President Joe Biden’s appearance on “The View,” in which Harris was mentioned, CNN’s Scott Jennings dubbed Wednesday a “mess” for the Democratic nominee.

“I think today was a mess for Harris,” Jennings summarized. “I mean, Joe Biden went on ‘The View’ today and said he delegated all sorts of authority to her on domestic policy. We know that the Biden administration’s not popular on domestic and economic policy. She gave a speech today saying we gotta move past the policies that people think have failed. Well, people think the last four years are a failure.” Jennings noted these points even before her 7pm interview.

Townhall journalist Sarah Arnold covered Biden’s “The View” appearance, including how he practically threw Harris under the bus with his comment about delegating responsibilities. This point from Biden became a particularly memorable and trending moment.

This scenario highlights the hypocrisy in Harris’ campaign message, as she seeks a promotion to the presidency while suggesting she would rectify current issues that persist despite her being vice president.

During her speech mentioned by Jennings, Harris admitted they need to move beyond failed policies. This slip of the tongue has become a pinned post on various Trump campaign X accounts, including former President Donald Trump himself. Harris’ running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), has also acknowledged recently that “we can’t afford four more years of this.”

Moreover, the Biden-Harris administration is widely unpopular. According to RealClearPolling, Biden’s approval rating stands at 41.6 percent, with 55.4 percent disapproving of his performance.

Adding to the discontent, a CNN poll released earlier this week indicated that 37 percent view Biden’s presidency as a “success,” while 63 percent deem it a “failure.” The report even mentioned that Biden’s association could be detrimental to Harris, as she only narrowly leads Trump by 48-47 percent among likely voters, and they are tied at 47 percent among registered voters.

Discussing the recent interview, Jennings remarked, “From what I can tell of this interview tonight, which was really a home game, I mean, going on with this particular interviewer was like effectively interviewing with her campaign’s press secretary, she had nothing, nothing new to say on the economy beyond this ridiculous pablum.” This has been a significant issue for the Harris-Walz campaign.

Notably, Mika Brzezinski, co-host of “Morning Joe,” who is generally critical of Trump, commented on Wednesday morning that “polling is showing this is an issue where work needs to be done by the Harris-Walz campaign,” particularly concerning the economy. She even expressed that campaign supporters provide “goals” rather than a “vision.”

“You want to talk about aspirations and dreams, they’re crushed in this country because of inflation, and these kinds of interviews and the day that she had today are not gonna solve it,” Jennings concluded about Harris’ Wednesday experience.
