The riots tearing through Los Angeles have exposed the Left’s twisted priorities.

One Democrat Governor refused help for the most ridiculous reason imaginable.

And Ron DeSantis exposed Gavin Newsom’s one awful excuse that left Americans shaking their heads in disbelief.

Newsom turns down Florida’s help with a mind-boggling excuse

Nearly 1,000 rioters unleashed chaos across Los Angeles on Friday night, surrounding federal buildings, attacking Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, slashing tires, and destroying government property.

The violence erupted after President Donald Trump deployed federal agents to enforce immigration law in sanctuary cities like Los Angeles.

As flames lit up the night sky and lawlessness consumed the streets, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis did what leaders do in times of crisis.

He offered to help.

DeSantis revealed on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime that Florida reached out to California to provide assistance during the unrest.

States routinely help each other during natural disasters and emergencies.

“We offer help, and we get help when we have hurricanes and things like that,” DeSantis explained to host Jesse Watters.

But California Governor Gavin Newsom’s response was nothing short of stunning.

According to DeSantis, Newsom’s team claimed that Florida’s offer of assistance would somehow “inflame the situation.”

That’s right – Newsom argued that sending trained law enforcement professionals to restore order would make things worse.

DeSantis calls out Newsom’s backwards logic

DeSantis didn’t mince words when he fired back at Newsom’s ridiculous reasoning.

“What’s inflaming the situation are the illegals that are burning cars and looting stores and are out there blocking traffic,” DeSantis stated. “That’s what’s inflaming the situation. The way to put the fire out is to make sure you have law and order.”

The Florida Governor pointed out the obvious – you stop violence with professional law enforcement, not by leaving police officers without adequate support.

“I can tell you this, you look at those LAPD officers, they’re not getting the support that they need,” DeSantis added. “That’s part of the reason we’ve had a lot of people from there come to Florida.”

Meanwhile, President Trump had to step in and deploy at least 2,000 National Guard troops on Saturday to restore order to the city.

Rather than thanking the federal government for the assistance, Newsom filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Monday.

It’s the kind of backwards thinking that has become the hallmark of Democrat leadership.

The gaslighting reaches new heights

DeSantis also took aim at California Democrat Representative Maxine Waters, who incredibly claimed she witnessed no violence during the riots.

While businesses burned and rioters hurled Molotov cocktails through the streets, Waters insisted during a House Democratic press conference that the riots were “peaceful.”

“You remember during the BLM riots, you’d have the CNN reporter staged in front of a building that would be on fire and would say ‘Oh, this is mostly peaceful protests’?” DeSantis said. “And so this is what they do. It’s gaslighting 101.”

The Florida Governor believes that deep down, Democrats know their gaslighting isn’t helping them politically.

“As you pointed out, nobody’s rallying to the side of the people that are rioting,” DeSantis observed. “People want order, and they want the laws enforced.”

Florida won’t tolerate L.A.-style chaos

Speaking at a Florida Cabinet meeting, DeSantis made it crystal clear that the lawlessness plaguing Los Angeles would never be tolerated in the Sunshine State.

“That isn’t going to fly in Florida. This is not Los Angeles. This is the Free State of Florida. So we respect the law. We respect the people that are executing the law,” DeSantis declared.

He warned that any similar unrest in Florida would be met with immediate and severe consequences.

“The minute you cross into attacking law enforcement, any type of rioting, any type of vandalism, looting, just be prepared to have the law come down on you,” DeSantis stated. “We will make an example of you, you can guarantee it.”

Florida’s 2021 Combating Public Disorder Act gives the state powerful tools to deal with violent protests.

The law increased penalties for violent demonstrations, made blocking roadways during protests a felony, and granted civil immunity to drivers who encounter protesters obstructing roads.

The tale of two states

The contrast between Florida and California couldn’t be starker.

When a crisis strikes, DeSantis offers help and solutions.

When a crisis strikes, Newsom offers lawsuits and excuses.

DeSantis accused California leaders of ignoring federal immigration law by continuing to operate as a sanctuary state for years.

“I think what’s happened in California is they are a sanctuary state you have. Now you have the law being applied,” DeSantis explained.

He noted that while Immigration and Customs Enforcement is “going after people that were on felony warrants,” rioters are “out there burning things down, massive looting.”

DeSantis also highlighted what he sees as a coordinated effort to target law enforcement officers involved in immigration enforcement.

“You have this movement around the country where these groups, I think they’re funded by people like [George] Soros, they want to dox people who are enforcing immigration law and basically try to incite attacks on them just for simply doing their job,” DeSantis said.

The Florida Governor believes Americans are fed up with the chaos and want leaders who will restore law and order.

“I would say President Trump’s immigration policies, he’s probably the most popular president on immigration in my lifetime,” DeSantis concluded.

Newsom’s office did not respond to requests for comment about turning down Florida’s offer of assistance.

But his actions speak louder than words – when Americans needed help, he chose politics over public safety.
