POLITICS: Rep. LaMonica McIver’s arrest proves that Democrats are extremists on immigration

New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver’s arrest for attacking ICE agents, and the unhinged wagon-circling that followed, is fresh proof that Democrats are still extremists on immigration.

On Monday, acting New Jersey US Attorney Alina Habba filed charges against McIver after she was caught on camera shoving agents while trying to charge into the new Delaney Hall detention center in Newark with a hoard of publicity-seeking protesters.

McIver’s excuse for her assault on federal law-enforcement officers: She and her fellow Democratic electeds, including Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, were just trying “to inspect the treatment of ICE detainees.”

Bull: The legal way to ensure that detainees (who only started arriving at Delaney in early May) are being treated humanely is to get a subpoena or other court order.

Plus, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin says: “Had these members requested a tour, we would have facilitated a tour of the facility.”

But getting permission ahead of time and walking in the front doors wouldn’t have won the attention that McIver and Baraka plainly were really after.

So they instead showed up with a mob outside the gates and forced their way into the fenced area.

Yet McIver’s arrest — for breaking the law on camera — sent the Democrats into hysteria.

Rep. Seth Magaziner (D-RI) called it “an attempt to try to intimidate members of Congress out of performing our oversight duties.”

Congressional Black Caucus chief Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-B’klyn) blustered: “If they come for LaMonica today, they’ll come for any of us tomorrow.”

Well, for any of you who attack federal law-enforcement agents today, actually.

McIver & Co.’s protest, and Democrats’ apoplectic response, shows how they’re still vehemently opposed to any enforcement of immigration law.

Delaney Hall houses migrants suspected of gang affiliation, rape and murder: the types of illegal migrants the Trump administration has so far focused on rounding up and shipping out of the United States.

Exactly as the vast majority of Americans want: A whopping 97% favor deporting “asylum seekers” who commit violent crimes.

For all other illegal migrants, President Donald Trump is opening with a heckuva good deal: Set up your own deportation through the CBP One app, and get a free one-way flight to any other country plus a $1,000 stipend and the OK to immigrate legally at some point in the future.

“Project Homecoming,” which sent off its first flight of 64 self-deporting migrants May 19, could save taxpayers billions, since it usually costs about $17,000 to arrest, detain, and deport someone.

Team Trump’s approach to undoing the Biden mass-immigration is boringly reasonable so far: Get rid of criminals, give everyone else a pathway to leave the country in a dignified way that benefits all parties.

Somehow, this drives leftists so crazy that they think breaking the law is justified.

Only one party’s radical ideas about immigration are completely at odds with common sense and the views of Americans — and it’s Democrats.
