POLITICS: Rep. Jasmine Crockett can’t quit calling for violence, NPR boss denies network’s bias and more

Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions

These slams:

“[Sen. Ted Cruz] has to be knocked over the head, like, hard.” — Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Sunday

We say: Crockett’s team claims she was speaking metaphorically but that she opposes actual violence.

Yet the Democratic congresswoman from Texas can’t stop uttering similarly inflammatory outbursts.

Elon Musk needs to be “taken down.” It’s important to “punch” Republicans. On Tuesday, video caught her trying to snatch a reporter’s cellphone from him. Some way to oppose violence!

This dodge:

“I don’t believe we are politically biased.” — NPR CEO Katherine Maher, Wednesday

We say: Not biased? NPR pooh-poohed The Post’s 1,000% accurate 2020 scoop on Hunter Biden’s laptop and promoted the Russia Hoax.

It downplayed suggestions of a COVID lab leak. Its DC editorial staff have had 87 registered Democrats and zero Republicans.

Maher herself called Donald Trump a “racist” and “sociopath.” But, nah, no bias there. . .

This assertion:

“[A woman’s] paycheck is still smaller than the one a man gets.” — Gov. Kathy Hochul, Tuesday

We say: This years-old gripe is meant to suggest women still face workplace discrimination.

Yet studies have shown that other factors (particularly a woman’s role in caring for her kids) explain nearly all of the pay gap today between men and women. Control for those, and the gap almost completely vanishes.

This claim:

“These changes are real.” — Columbia interim prez Katrina Armstrong, Tuesday

We say: To preserve federal funding, Armstrong sought to reassure Team Trump that Columbia was taking promised steps to fight campus antisemitism.

Yet she and other brass privately downplayed any changes. The school was actually making “no changes” to its mask policy, she literally told faculty, nor was it placing its Middle East Studies department under “receivership.”

Armstrong was clearly fudging the facts — either to her faculty or (alas, more likely) to Team Trump and the public. Despicable.
