The House Oversight Committee distributed an internal memo this weekend blasting Democrats on the committee for selective leaks with “targeted redactions” to create a “hoax” for President Donald Trump.
The memo is designed to help Republicans on the committee push back against what the leadership described as “an anti-Trump narrative” Democrats sought to create by releasing Jeffrey Epstein emails that name the president. Epstein, who died in a New York detention facility in 2019, was a financier connected to powerful men and a convicted sex offender.
In one of the emails that House Democrats published last week, Epstein said, “Victim 1 spent many hours at my house with him,” referring to Trump. However, the Oversight Committee Democrats intentionally withheld the name of the victim, later identified as Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre. Before her death earlier this year, Giuffre said that she never witnessed Trump doing anything wrong.
The Oversight Republicans say this misrepresentation was designed to feed that anti-Trump narrative.
“Unfortunately, during this investigation, Oversight Committee Democrats … have intentionally mischaracterized witness testimony and selectively released information with targeted redactions in an effort to create another hoax involving President Trump,” the Oversight Committee Republican Staff wrote in a memo, obtained by Just the News.
Democrats said the name of the victim was redacted as part of standing practice on the committee not to name victims of sexual abuse.

In response to the selected release by the Democrats, the Oversight Republican majority published all 23,000 pages of documents it had obtained as part of the investigation into Epstein.
The Democrats told The New York Times that the full release was intended to “disorient, and to distract attention,” from the smaller release naming Trump.
“Democrats’ mantra to ‘release the Epstein files’ is only limited to any reference of President Trump so they can mischaracterize it to smear him,” the Oversight Republican staff concluded in the memo.“Democrats are not concerned with transparency or justice.”
The GOP strategy memo was distributed to members of the committee as the wider House plans to vote this week on whether to force the Justice Department to release all documents related to the Epstein investigation.
After saying for months there was no reason to focus on the issue, President Trump reversed course on Sunday and threw his support behind the congressional effort to force the release of the files.
“We have nothing to hide,” he declared in a Truth Social post.
