POLITICS: New York Post Congress endorsements —Stefanik, Malliotakis, LiPetri, and D’Esposito

As we noted in Monday’s first round of endorsements, New York is packed with swing districts that will determine which party controls the House of Representatives this fall.

Democrats and their dark-money allies are pouring tens of millions into making Brooklyn’s Rep. Hakeem Jeffries the next speaker, and so ensuring that the party’s progressive wing can forward its agenda no matter who wins the White House.

For the sake of the nation’s future, here are some more of The Post’s picks in key races:

NY-3 (Nassau County and northeast Queens)

Rep. Tom Suozzi (D) retook this seat after New York Republicans led the way in ousting the disgraceful Rep. George Santos, but the longtime Nassau pol faces a stiff challenge from Mike LiPetri.

An ex-assemblyman, LiPetri couldn’t be more devoted to his community: “This election is for our home, our family, and our children,” he stresses.

And he leaves no doubt about where he stands on issues: “Seal the border to all illegal immigrants,” he demands.

He decries New York’s “pro-crime, anti-police agenda.”

To fight inflation, LiPetri would “end arbitrary and unfounded ‘green’ initiatives and mandates that make it impossible for homeowners, builders and investors to live and work in their properties.”

And he’d treat Israel like a friend, not an enemy — unlike many Democrats. Indeed, he’d send US Special Forces to rescue US hostages and minces no words in urging the “complete eradication” of Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis “by any means necessary.”

To be clear, Suozzi has also stood up for Israel: The district is  21% Jewish, after all — but don’t rely on him for the kind of pro-Israel support LePetri promises: After all, a vote for Tom is also a vote to empower AOC and the rest of The Squad as part of the House majority.

Suozzi also pushes the fake “bipartisan border bill” as an answer to the “asylum seeker” invasion — undermining all his talking of seeking bipartisan solutions even as he admits what a mess the Harris-Biden team has made.

NY-4 (southwestern Nassau County)

You can’t ask for a member of the House Homeland Security Committee with a more appropriate background than GOP Rep. Anthony D’Esposito.

An ex-NYPD detective with more than 600 arrests under his belt, D’Esposito is endorsed by a host of law-enforcement unions, along with other labor and business groups.

His moderate positions reflect the diversity of his district, with 40% of its voters registered Democrats, 30% Republican and 30% independent. (He’s diverse, too: His mom was born and raised in Puerto Rico.)

Plus, he’s staked a position as a moderate, serving on the House Problem Solvers Caucus.

At the same time, D’Esposito is unequivocal on issue like fixing “the disaster at the border,” pointing his finger squarely at Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.

Challenger Laura Gillen (D) keeps trying to play the abortion card, though D’Esposito has consistently opposed a nationwide abortion ban and backs access to IVF and other fertility resources.

Hoping to turn the seat blue, The New York Times ran an “ethics” hit piece on D’Esposito, but the paper itself admitted he broke no laws over the nine grand in payroll spending it questioned, and even that “ethics experts” were “split on whether” some of the allegations (if true) violated House rules.

Meanwhile, Gillen faces bigger ethics questions about her role as Hempstead town supervisor in steering a $1.5 billion contract to renovate the Nassau Coliseum to a top donor, and in current Hempstead officials using village funds to promote and work what turned out a campaign rally for her with Jeffries showing up to ask,  “Are  you ready to elect Democrats up and down the ballot?”

NY-22 (Madison and Onondaga counties and parts of Cayuga, Cortland and Oneida)

In what’s considered Democrats’ best hope to pick up a seat in New York, teachers-union pawn John Mannion is hoping to oust Rep. Brandon Williams.

A Navy veteran and businessman who has crossed party lines to protect Social Security and fund aid for Ukraine, Williams is a powerful voice for veterans and seniors, public safety, national security and a strong US energy policy.

Mannion, a former teacher groomed by Randi Weingarten’s union for public office, is a state senator who’s gone along with the progressives’ soft-on-crime agenda and this year got his colleagues to gerrymander the district to give him a better shot at victory.

His cronies in the Legislature also swept under the rug a host of accusations from former staffers that he and his wife engaged in “often sexist and homophobic” harassment.

Mannion joins other Dems in claiming his opponent will vote for an utterly mythical “national abortion ban” and in pretending the “bipartisan immigration bill” — which couldn’t clear the Senate and would write key Biden open-border policies into law — is a meaningful fix for the illegal-migrant crisis.

He also points to an anodyne Facebook post as “proof” of his support for Israel.

Williams, a real supporter of Israel, stood with Jewish students at Syracuse University and has joined other House Republicans in condemning the horrific anti-Israel bias that permeates US universities.

He’s a common-sense, moderate conservative who’s right for the district.

We also endorse these incumbents:

NY-1 (northern and eastern Long Island): Rep. Nick LaLota

NY-2 (south central Long Island): Rep. Andrew Garbarino

NY-11 (Staten Island and southern Brooklyn): Rep. Nicole Malliotakis

NY-21 (Adirondacks): Rep. Elise Stefanik

NY-23 (Western New York) Rep. Nick Langworthy

NY-24 (Central New York): Rep. Claudia Tenney
