The Issue: Texts from Virginia AG candidate Jay Jones fantasizing about the killing of a GOP lawmaker.
Jay Jones, Virginia’s Democratic nominee for attorney general, is a total idiot (“Dems stand by strife of party,” Oct. 8).
His violent rhetoric about Republican Todd Gilbert was disgusting, vile and sickening. He is campaigning for the highest law-enforcement position in his state yet he advocated for the assassination of Gilbert and his family.
He should immediately withdraw from the race and from running for public office ever again.
This is the kind of rhetoric that got Charlie Kirk killed. Jones can take his apologies and shove them you know where.

Martin Gurri pens how disturbing and unhinged the Democratic Party has become, in part because of the vile rhetoric spewed by talking heads, the media, Hollywood and of course, Democrats themselves (“Sickness unto death in US,” Oct. 7).
Jay Jones, an AG candidate in Virginia, called for the death of a Republican. Charlie Kirk’s assassination was praised by these liberal lunatics, yet they are silent about this.
Here’s hoping the moderate left sees this abomination with clear eyes. I am appalled by the Democratic Party’s leadership and their policies.

I agree wholeheartedly with Martin Gurri and Glenn H. Reynolds (“ ‘Resistance’ Insanity,” PostOpinion, Oct. 7) when it comes to their denunciations of Jay Jones over his threats against Todd Gilbert and his family.
But I also think that we have to remember that a lot of Republicans voted for a president who said he could “shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it,” and then later incited an insurrection that took the lives of five brave police officers.
If we are going to condemn Democrats who promote violence, we must also condemn Republicans who do the same.

Not a single Democrat has demanded that Jay Jones, the African-American Democratic nominee for Virginia’s attorney general, step out of the race over his vile comments about how Todd Gilbert should get two bullets to the head.
Let’s hope his complexion isn’t his protection.

The Issue: Post letters criticizing the attorney general’s responses to Democrats in a Senate hearing.
The Post published several readers’ letters criticizing Attorney General Pam Bondi for not answering questions from Democratic senators (“Bondi’s Chaotic Hearing: Pam Snaps Back at Dems,” Letters, Oct. 9).
Questions? I heard a nasty diatribe by Sen. Adam Schiff, a hypocritical speech about Chicago from Sen. Dick Durbin and a silly recitation of the usual Democrat talking points by Sen. Mazie Hirono, among others.
These served no real purpose and were the usual partisan, mean-spirited attacks on President Trump: Speeches laced with vitriol and insults.

When I read last Thursday’s letters, I thought I’d picked up The New York “Slimes” by mistake.
All four letters were knocking Bondi, who was only trying to implement the Herculean task of getting creeps like Schiff and Sen. Richard Blumenthal to stop lying.
This is one of the very rare times that I say, “Shame on you, editors.”

I was amazed to see only one-sided letters printed in The Post concerning Pam Bondi’s response to the Senate Judiciary Committee’s questioning.
Every statement she gave was spot on — why all the negative reactions?
