The Kennedy political dynasty is in the hands of Jack Schlossberg, who announced Wednesday that he’s running in the 2026 Democratic primary for Jerry Nadler’s soon-to-be vacated Congressional seat.
The 32-year-old has the swarthy good looks of his late uncle John F. Kennedy Jr. Born John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg, he carries his slain grandfather’s name and boasts degrees from Yale and Harvard.
On paper, he’s the ideal bearer of the Kennedy torch.
But online, where he’s cultivated his public image, Schlossberg has all the gravitas of an aspiring Bravolebrity desperate for likes.
Welcome to Camelot 2025, which can be distilled down to an extreme close-up of JFK’s grandson wearing a blond wig, impersonating First Lady Melania Trump and mocking her Slovenian accent.
Of course, that magical era has always been a myth of the Kennedys’ own making — one held up by a slobbering media dazzled by the clan’s telegenic looks and their generational grip on power.
To this day, the family is praised for public service and liberal values, even as their ugly scandals and shameful treatment of women have largely been relegated to footnotes.
Let’s revisit. Ted Kennedy left Mary Jo Kopechne to drown in a car in the waters off Chappaquiddick Island in 1969 — and was merely slapped with the penalty of a suspended license. Schlossberg’s grandfather, President Kennedy, was a lothario who slept with celebrities, staffers and even an intern. Great-grandfather Joseph Kennedy also carried on affairs and had his daughter Rosemary lobotomized.
That is just the abridged version, without even opening the chapters on Joe’s grandkids — where immoral and sometimes criminal behavior abound: Drugs, DUIs, rape accusations.
Schlossberg, meanwhile, is a shameless influencer and a purveyor of unhinged social media videos. To his 1.75 million followers across X, instagram and TikTok, he asks questions like: “True or false: Usha Vance is way hotter than Jackie O?“
You might know Jackie O as his grandmother.
Now, without much of a resume, Schlossberg is relying on his heritage.
Take the photo on his campaign website of him biking around Manhattan in a suit and backwards cap, with a bike chain around his waist. It’s a weird effort at cosplaying as his famous uncle JFK Jr.
And an ironic one, considering he recently launched a campaign against TV creator Ryan Murphy — accusing him of “making millions off John, making a public spectacle” of his life for the upcoming series “An American Love Story.”
Not to mention: When Robert F. Kennedy Jr. launched his presidential bid two years ago with an ad that featured footage of JFK and RFK, Caroline Kennedy — Schlossberg’s mother — was not happy about it.
“It also wasn’t easy to remain silent last year when Bobby expropriated my father’s image and distorted President Kennedy’s legacy to advance his own failed presidential campaign,” she later wrote in the New York Times.
Only Democrats can use the family archives!
In the past this family had the good sense to hide their dysfunction behind a veneer of all-American excellence and respectability. For decades, it provided a Teflon cover for their legacy.
Now we’re in the social media age, which has unlocked an unbridled narcissism in our society and given everyone a place to air their grievances.
The Kennedy family chaos has been laid bare — and the call is coming from inside the house, complete with public infighting over RFK Jr. that has seen his siblings and cousins call him a “predator.”
Schlossberg is an apt avatar for it all.
His team will keep trying to convince us that unserious Schlossberg is the Kennedy heir the left always pined for — and nothing like RFK Jr.
But in reality, he’s just another Kennedy made of fool’s gold.
