America’s first Space Force veteran is reportedly already considering ways to “eliminate the DEI” in the military after a promised position from the president-elect.

While COVID mandates and woke agendas played a role in missed recruitment quotas for the U.S. military, they were also death knells for the careers of many service members. As the latter found U.S. Space Force Lt. Col. Matt Lohmeier separated from the military, an expected role with an accountability task force left him and others expressing “excitement.”

During an interview with the Daily Mail, the 15-year veteran who’d been relieved of command in 2021 for speaking out on DEI initiatives remarked that he had been thinking of ways “in which I might get involved in trying to restore accountability in the military and to eliminate the DEI diversity, equity, inclusion training I was critical of.”

In October, Lohmeier joined now-President-elect Donald Trump at a veterans town hall in North Carolina where the GOP leader responded to his concerns by offering him a spot on a task force to clean up the military.

“I didn’t know at the time what that meant,” the ousted service member expressed. “I didn’t know if I’d simply join a larger team of people working on it, if I’d be put in charge of a task force, and I suppose all of that remains to be seen, and there’s nothing to say about it publicly just yet.”

What he could speak to was the positive reaction troops and former Space Force colleagues had to the victory of the Trump-Vance ticket, as well as the president-elect’s nomination of Minnesota Army National Guard Major Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense.

“They are very excited about the change in the administration and about the potential for the new Secretary of Defense,” Lohmeier told the Mail. “They’ve expressed excitement about, hopefully, a return to a simple sole focus on warfighting and not about politics and race discussions and political activist agendas.”

Hegseth recently reacted to a post from Utah Sen. Mike Lee (R) about wokeness in the military with a blunt response, “Not for long.”

In reflecting on the circumstances of his separation from the military, which came after speaking out about DEI on a podcast while promoting his book, “Irresistible Revolution: Marxism’s Goal of Conquest & the Unmaking of the American Military,” he described the time after the 2020 death of George Floyd in police custody as “a period of unrest where activists and political agitators and race hustlers used a man’s death as an event that they could leverage for their revolutionary political purposes.”

“You had leaders in uniform, as well as young followers in uniform, seizing that politically fraught moment for… purposes of spreading their own political worldviews,” argued the lieutenant colonel. “You had, for example, at my base, a base commander, a colonel who is black, say things to his troops, like, ‘No one at my base will stand in the way of the Black Lives Matter movement.’ Well, of course, at once that was terribly polarizing.”

“I saw the demonization of the sitting commander-in-chief by that same base commander,” he recounted, noting such public criticism, “especially from your official capacity,” was illegal in the military.

Where his dismissal was concerned, the veteran who, “recognized that a lot of the roots of our current social justice activism were found in Marxist thought and ideology,” contended to the Mail, “They were afraid of the political climate we had created for ourselves in the country, and they were afraid to stand by a straight white male who was criticizing some of the race-based political activism that was occurring.”
