According to a famous quote attributed to Albert Einstein, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results,” and those words of wisdom are especially relevant today.
Now that an Obama-appointed judge has proved that she’s mightier than the duly elected president of the United States when it comes to setting immigration policy, it’s time for the Trump administration to take the L and move on.
Despite months of efforts to deport illegal alien MS-13 gangbanger, human trafficker, and spousal abuser Kilmar Abrego Garcia, he is now a free man, permitted to roam anywhere in the country that his heart desires, a national embarrassment that showcases the sweeping power of unelected lower court judges who have been a bulwark against systemic reform.
On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis ordered that the “Maryland man” be released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody and that there was no legal basis for his continued detention, the latest setback for federal authorities in the ongoing effort to remove him from the country which he has no right to remain in.
JUST IN: Kilmar Abrego Garcia has been released from immigration detention, his attorney told @ABC News.
His release came after a federal judge on Thursday ordered Abrego Garcia released from detention.

Then before the administration could make a move, Abrego Garcia’s legal team rushed back to Xinis early Friday morning to have her block any attempt to re-detain him, a major win for the Democrats who with the complicity of the corrupt media, were able to turn a dangerous and potentially violent foreign thug into a martyr figure and a victim of the “Nazis” and “fascists” who were persecuting a loving husband and father.
Adding insult to injury, the MS-13 gangsta held court with the media on Friday, all but flipping the middle finger to President Donald J. Trump and those who would dare even to attempt to enforce federal immigration law – en Español.

Even though the administration had been able to successfully deport Abrego Garcia to his native El Salvador earlier this year, it caved and brought him back after Xinis demanded it, failing repeatedly to deport him again after he refused to go to any of the countries that were willing to take him in.
It’s probably fair to say that the entire fiasco has been a disaster from the beginning, just another sad act in the ongoing Pam Bondi goat rodeo after one of her DOJ lawyers slipped up and said that it was an error to have sent him back to El Salvador where he briefly enjoyed a stay in the country’s notorious CECOT prison until Democrat pressure forced his move to a more acceptable facility.
At this point, the best option for the administration is just to let it go because continuing to pursue deporting him is only a waste of time and money, diverting precious resources from other, more important matters. It’s also best to get it out of the news cycle as a reminder that the power of the presidency can easily be neutered by one determined activist in robes, therefore inspiring others.
Besides, those who have forced this outcome have an unlimited supply of resources to burn through, the best lawyers that money can buy, an entire network of NGOs and front groups, and all the free media that they could desire.
The debacle brings to mind the old Uncle Remus story “The Tar Baby,” which, of course, has been deemed to be racist, along with millions of other things.
In the story, Br’er Fox has laid a sneaky trap for the unwitting Br’er Rabbit in the form of a doll made out of the sticky black substance. When Br’er Rabbit tries to talk to the tar baby and becomes frustrated when he isn’t getting an answer, he proceeds to lash out, kicking and punching the gooey object until he becomes hopelessly stuck to it.
Abrego Garcia is the Trump administration’s tar baby, and unless it quickly moves to free itself, the foreign gangsta will continue to be an increasingly powerful symbol of the resistance to Trump and his policies, with each subsequent failure to overcome Xinis and other arrayed forces of lawfare amplifying his importance to the cause.
If he isn’t allowed to simply fade away, Abrego Garcia will be trotted out at the 2028 Democratic National Convention to thunderous applause and be toted around by Gavin Newsom or whoever wins the nomination as a prop during the campaign, a constant reminder of how he overcame the odds and stuck it to Trump.
Unless Trump is prepared to start defying left-wing judges and giving Democrats a reason to impeach him on a silver platter, it’s time to fold a bad hand on the deportation of “Maryland man” because the Democrats are not going to give up. Not now, not ever, and their networks are prepared to pour as much as it takes into the fight to keep him here.
To persist is a waste of time and money that badly needs to be directed toward winnable battles. Time to give up the ghost and move on because even if the Trump administration takes it to the Supreme Court and wins, it will just be ignored by the lower court judges anyway. The House is literally on fire, and at this point, deporting one scumbag isn’t going to matter much anyway.
The win would be to have left him in El Salvador.
