Rep. Jim Baird (R-Ind.) has been released from the hospital less than 24 hours after he and his wife were involved in a car accident, his office said Tuesday night.
Baird’s office shared a photo of the congressman to the social platform X, in which he is wearing a neck brace and appears to have a bruise under his left eye.
Baird’s office noted that his wife, Danise, remains in the hospital and “continues to receive excellent care as she recovers.”
“Rep. Jim Baird and his family expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support, and he thanks everyone for their prayers and well wishes,” his office added.
The Bairds’ son, Indiana state Rep. Beau Baird (R), wrote Tuesday morning on Facebook that his parents were driving back to Washington, D.C., Monday night when their vehicle was struck. He noted that both were stable and “in good spirits.”
