I guess I shouldn’t be astonished that Senate Democrats are still trying to stop the U.S. military in Iran. Yesterday, the Senate defeated another proposal to end the war with Iran by a vote of 53-47.
But earlier this month, the Democrat’s true madness about Iran was on full display in a House vote that was completely buried by the mainstream press.
The idiocy I’m about to review showcased 53 House Members who six days after the war began could not bring themselves to vote in favor of a simple House resolution that stated the obvious:
House Resolution 1099: “The House of Representatives declares it is the policy of the United States that Iran continues to be the largest state sponsor of terrorism.”
An overwhelming 372 House Members voted for this resolution. The nonpartisan resolution was supported by 157 Democrats.
But 53 Members, all far Left Democrats, couldn’t bring themselves to state the obvious about Iran and its nearly half century of exporting terrorism across the world.
The vote likely put a smile on the surviving Iranian Mullahs and their surviving military chiefs in Tehran.
And of course, these Democrats voted against the resolution while Americans are fighting and dying in the Middle East.
During war, this type of hypocrisy harms our troops and gives comfort to our enemies.
But never mind. As it turned out most of the Democrats who voted against it didn’t even feel it necessary to issue a statement explaining their action.
Once upon a time Democrats believed in human rights. They opposed terrorism. They were united on 9/11 to denounce the tactic of attacking unarmed civilians.
But no more.
In viewing the House vote on Iran and its sponsorship of terrorism, progressive members of Congress displayed many bouts of hypocrisy.
The first act of betrayal to core values goes to the gay and transgender Members of Congress who voted against this resolution. Many of their fellow gay Iranians face brutal forms of death at the hands of these monstrous Mullahs including public hanging.
But here are five gay and transgender members who voted against the Iranian resolution: First up, Rep. Mark Takano and Rep Robert Garcia. Both are from gay-friendly California.
Takano is the first openly gay person of color. Both profess support for gay freedom.
Emily Randall is a progressive from Washington State and is the First Queer Latinia to serve in Congress. She opposed the resolution.
Mark Pocan from Wisconsin is the first openly transgender Member of Congress. He opposed it too. Rep. Sarah McBride is a gay representative from Delaware. She joined the gay chorus giving the Iranian Mullahs a free pass.
How many ways can we say hypocrisy?
Now we come to the Black caucus. At one time, Black elected Members of Congress valiantly fought for civil rights as the basis of a free society.
But the killing of more than 30,000 Iranian protesters in January and the Iranian exportation of fear through terrorism didn’t move 18 Black House Members who voted against the resolution.
Included in this pro-Iran group of Black Members is Rep. Yvette D. Clarke, who was born in Jamaica and represents a section of Brooklyn which includes Crown Heights. Crown Heights contains both Black and Orthodox Jewish residents of the city.
Her district includes the world headquarters of the Jewish Chabad-Lubavitch community. In January, a 36-year-old man repeatedly rammed the world headquarters. He was charged with attempted assault, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and aggravated harassment and hate crimes, according to New York police. Federal charges followed.
Clarke clearly dissed her Jewish constituents as well as all Americans when she opposed the resolution.
Another Black caucus member to oppose it is the infamous Rep. Al Green from Texas.
Green was publicly removed from President Donald Trump’s latest State of the Union address this year as he tried to disrupt it. This was the second consecutive year he has been ejected from Trump’s annual address to Congress. He also was later censured for interrupting Trump’s speech.
After receiving a full House briefing on the Iran war by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine on March 3, 2026, Green came onto the floor to ridiculously declare, “I have determined there was no threat to this country.”
Twelve opponents of the measure are Hispanic. Like their fellow Black members, Hispanics have fought for civil rights.
Included in that group that opposed the resolution is Rep. Robert Jacobsen “Rob” Menendez Jr. He’s the son of Sen. Bob Menendez who now is serving 11 years in federal prison on corruption charges.
Of course, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who was born in Puerto Rico, and is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She predictably voted against the resolution along with other members of the far Left “Squad.”
Rep. Joaquin Castro, a Democrat from Texas had this naive comment after he cast his ballot opposing the resolution: “The best way to ensure that no more San Antonia’s in uniform are put in harm’s way is to end this war and negotiate an agreement with Iran rather than pursue a regime change war that will only make us less safe.”
Castro has been a loyal opposition Democrat since he arrived in Congress. In 2021, for instance, Castro was named an impeachment manager for Trump’s second impeachment trial.
According to the group FiveThirtyEight Castro voted with President Joe Biden’s stated positions 100% of the time. 538 is one of the most heralded polling outfits for the Democratic Party.
Alas, it’s sad to say that three opponents of the resolution are Jewish.
This of course, belies belief as Iran has called for the “Death of Israel.” The Mullahs call the United States “Big Satan” and Israel “Little Satan.” They are dedicated to eliminating Jews from all of Israel. That’s the mantra from Tehran.
Nevertheless, three very progressive members decided to vote against this simple resolution.
One who opposed it is Rep. Steve Cohen, the most progressive member of the Tennessee delegation and one of the most progressive congressmen to represent the state according to Wikipedia. He briefly said after his vote, “I oppose the President’s decision to join Israel in launching an illegal and disastrous war against Iran.”
Another is Rep. Sara Jacobs. Jacob’s father was the CEO of Qualcomm. According to her website, Jacobs worked in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations; at UNICEF; in the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations at the State Department; and as a foreign policy advisor to Secretary Hillary Clinton during her 2016 presidential campaign.
She also serves as Founding Co-Chair of the Protection of Civilians in Conflict.” I guess she overlooked the lack of protection of civilians by the Iranian regime that murdered civilian protesters just two months ago.
Perhaps she was trying to revive actor Humphrey Bogart’s now infamous comment in the movie Casablanca when he said, “I was misinformed.”
Sara Jacob’s net worth is $76 million, and she is considered one of the wealthiest Members of Congress. Rep. Jacob didn’t feel she had to issue any public explanation for her opposition to the resolution.
Finally, we have the third Jewish House Member who voted against the resolution. This was long-time Lefty Rep. Janice D. “Jan” Schakowsky. She has represented her Chicago district since 1999.
Her district includes the city of Skokie which at one time was one of the towns with the largest percentage of Holocaust survivors. In the 1980’s she joined the Democratic Socialists of America. Along with Jacobs, she too didn’t feel she had to explain her vote against the resolution.
Of those who opposed the resolution, most were from parts of the country where progressive Leftwing sentiment thrives: eleven were from the West Coast, eight from the New York-New Jersey region, seven from Illinois, four from Massachusetts and five from very blue parts of Texas.
Hypocrisy is well known in Congress. But during warfare, their hypocrisy harms our troops and especially gives comfort to our enemies.
