The House is expected to hold a key vote as early as Monday on a measure by GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to change the name of the “Gulf of Mexico” to the “Gulf of America.”
The vote will be held by the GOP-led House Rules Committee. If the measure passes, it will get a final vote on the House floor, where it is expected to pass.
President Donald Trump, at the start of his term in January, signed the executive order to change the name.
If Greene’s measure passes in the House, it will go to the GOP-controlled Senate, where it is also expected to pass, then to Trump, whose signature on the measure would solidify his executive order into law.
