The Issue: Calls for Curtis Sliwa to drop out of the mayoral race to help Andrew Cuomo win.
Please, Curtis Sliwa, do not drop out of this race (“Defiant Curtis rejects ‘bribes’ & stands ground,” Oct. 22).
Republican voters in New York City have the right to a candidate they choose.
Even if he drops out, his name will still be on the ballot, and I will vote for him anyway — like most Republican voters will.
Maybe if the New York Post, and everyone else who’s been telling him to drop out, gave Sliwa some positive press, or at least a little respect, he would have a shot at winning.
I will not vote for a corrupt Democrat.
If they want to destroy this city by electing a communist, then so be it.
Andrew Cuomo, as far as I’m concerned, is no better than Zohran Mamdani.

It’s truly a shame that Sliwa cannot comprehend that his ego and pride are not a factor in the upcoming mayoral election.
The critical point is that Mamdani would be terribly destructive to our city.

I agree that we don’t want Mamdani for mayor, but The Post is trying to push the wrong guy out of the race.
Cuomo is as terrible as Mamdani.
As governor, he allegedly sexually harassed women and was responsible for the COVID nursing-home scandal.
Cuomo is the one who needs to withdraw.
His supporters would never vote for Mamdani, either.
That means Sliwa would get all those votes, plus his own, and beat Mamdami.

My heart hurts for Curtis.
He gave his years and almost his life for our city, but is being asked to walk away and leave New York City in the hands of one of two horrible men.
I understand those who are asking him to step down — it’s a political strategy to hopefully elect the “best of the worst.”
I am angry that Curtis was not supported more diligently by the Republican Party and the influential businesses and money men of New York.
It’s not impossible to elect a Republican mayor, and they should’ve put everything they had behind Curtis.

Curtis, you’re not Harry Truman, and this is not 1948. In a city with six registered Democrats for every Republican, the only thing you can guarantee by staying in the race is the election of Zohran Mamdani, and the slaughter it will bring to New York City.
Ask yourself: Are you being obstinate for the good of New York, or for your own ego and selfishness?

What a disappointing editorial from The Post.
It’s more appropriate for Cuomo to drop out (“Drop Out, Curtis,” Editorial, Oct. 21).
Cuomo put COVID patients back into nursing homes, killing many; he called ICE agents “thugs”; stated political conservatives don’t belong in New York; instituted terrible policies; resigned in disgrace over scandalous behavior and more.
Now he gets to come back and ruin the city too?
There is a candidate who can reverse the damage done and about to be done. Stop the false narrative that “he can’t win” and vote Curtis Sliwa.

Newspapers like The Post are supposed to be champions of the First Amendment, yet you are all too willing to silence the voices of Sliwa’s many supporters.
You cite poll numbers that suggest that only Cuomo can beat Mamdani — but sound principles do not rise or fall on the basis of polls.
Polls can be wrong, especially when a portion of the electorate remains undecided in this contest.
Sliwa has his flaws, but his misdeeds pale in comparison to the heinous behavior of Cuomo and Mamdani.

Curtis, your creation of the Guardian Angels and the bravery of the volunteers who joined is very commendable.
NYC can never thank you enough.
Right now, you’re faced with the toughest decision of your life.
But the chances of you winning the mayoral election are slim to none, at best.
You have to do the right thing and walk away.
You cannot allow the snake oil salesman to win this race.
