NASHVILLE, TN – A tranquil evening was shattered when a car barreled into a residence, barely missing the homeowner and her two dogs. The homeowner recounted the harrowing moment, explaining that just minutes earlier, she had left her bedroom with her pets, narrowly avoiding disaster as the vehicle obliterated their crates.
The crash, described by witnesses as a high-speed collision, left neighbors unsurprised. Steven Burus, a local resident for 25 years, noted the frequency of such incidents, having replaced his mailbox multiple times due to similar accidents. “Why aren’t the police pulling these reckless drivers over?” Burus questioned, expressing frustration over the ongoing safety concerns.
City council member Tasha Ellis acknowledged these concerns and highlighted ongoing efforts to address them. A new Southeast Police precinct is set to open soon, promising over 80 officers. However, Ellis emphasized the urgency for immediate action, underscoring the dire situation.
Authorities reported that the car’s passenger sustained minor injuries, while the driver was hospitalized with a broken neck. The driver faces several charges, including driving under the influence, underage drinking, operating without a license, and reckless endangerment.
The homeowner expressed relief that she and her dogs were unharmed but hopes the incident will prompt the implementation of stronger safety measures in the area.
