In early June, Joe Biden’s White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor was subpoenaed by House Oversight Chair James Comer.

Republicans are seeking testimony from O’Connor over a probe into Joe Biden’s mental fitness.

CNN reported:

House Oversight Chair James Comer has subpoenaed former President Joe Biden’s White House physician to appear for a deposition later this month, according to a copy of the subpoena letter shared with CNN.

The subpoena to Dr. Kevin O’Connor marks an escalation of the Republican chairman’s probe into Biden’s mental fitness and decline.

In the subpoena letter, Comer said O’Connor was not complying with the committee’s initial voluntary request for a transcribed interview.

The letter from Comer states that counsel for O’Connor responded to the committee’s request for testimony, saying that the physician can’t appear for the requested interview, citing legal and ethical obligations as well as “physician-patient privilege.” The letter from Comer says that “these arguments lack merit.”

O’Connor is now trying to delay his testimony.

O’Connor’s lawyer wants the testimony to be delayed until July 28th or August 4th.

Fox News reported:

Former White House physician Kevin O’Connor, who served as doctor to former President Joe Biden, requested a delay to his upcoming testimony before the House Oversight Committee this week.

O’Connor was scheduled to testify on Wednesday, but is now in a disagreement with the committee over the scope of the questions he will be expected to answer during his testimony. The committee, led by Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., is interviewing the doctor as part of its investigation into Biden’s mental fitness and his administration’s use of an autopen.

A lawyer for O’Connor requested the testimony be delayed to July 28 or August 4 in a letter to Comer.

“Dr. O’Connor has legal and ethical obligations that he must satisfy and for which violations carry serious consequences to him professionally and personally,” the letter says.
