Model keeps his hands full
Forget your smile, your stomach, your scalp. Fie on those used parts. Today’s most important section? The hand, where you get your messages, news, time, calls, addresses, weather, Donald’s latest move and sometimes a bill from your lawyer.
Hand model Jorge Torres: “Years ago, on an actor’s website submitting myself for work, was an ad for a hand model. First manicure I ever got was that morning. I’ve been working ever since.
“I do two manicures weekly. I don’t do dishes, keep manual labor to a minimum and have gloves everywhere.”
Cindy: Bill Clinton told me his worst job was shaking hands. A ring would cut into his fingers.
“Shaking hands is tough. I moisturize head to toe every morning. No painted nails. Just clean, slightly buffed. My hand is famous. Nice skin tone, so I play any ethnicity. I use Kiehl’s and Dior cuticle creams. Avoid shaking hands, give a little fist bump. I do many food commercials, drinks, phones, watches, rings, credit cards, luggage. Hands stay the same unless it’s a special need. I have not screwed up anything too badly.
“For a food commercial, making a perfect sandwich takes 30 minutes. They bring me at the end to put a bun on, to do my job perfectly. Like a closer in baseball. They want it perfect. I’ve never dropped anything on set.
“You have to have steady hands. I don’t drink coffee before a shoot. I keep them in gloves. Once I was walking through Herald Square and there’s shoppers everywhere. I was just swinging my arms, naturally. And a lady’s bag scratched my hand accidentally. Since then, when I’m in a crowd, I keep my hands in my pockets or gloves. I learned you got to keep ’em safe from outside issues.”
VIP life’s highs & lows
A long-gone memory that needs repeating. One day on the set of “The Postman Always Rings Twice,” Jack Nicholson sought to add extra realism to a sort of sordid sex scene.
“I wanted to have a full stinger,” he said. Unfortunately, after working on his own “stinger” for 45 minutes, nothing popped up, and the effort abandoned. “Somebody else might say I was a pervert,” he said. “But, no. On my terms, that would have been extremely artful.” He also claimed to have smoked 155 joints while shooting “Easy Rider.”

John Belushi’s favorite party game was “Cocaine Chicken.” Having cut some bad stuff into a line several feet long, he and a competitor would snort from opposite ends in a race to the middle. Belushi almost always won.
I was once invited to a VIP celeb party. On a table was a dish filled with what I learned was drugs. The guests dug into the bowl, and I was terrified. I left with the VIP who brought me. Forget foreign countries. Our president might look into us.
An icy reception
A nice holiday take before Valentine’s Day. While Björk was pregnant in 1986, the holiday made her shave her eyebrows, bare her belly and play punk rock on Icelandic TV. She said: “That combination was evidently too much for some viewers,” later adding, “A woman took sick while watching the program and sued me.”

ANOTHER moment for the ads for discounted Valentine’s Day gifts from the few stores still in business. Tiny Tim would spend billions more than he makes. Scrooge would be a candidate for the Conservative Party. And everybody’s running for something.
With the way schools are going I’ve learned that students are in favor of discipline in class. They’re now demanding that their teachers do exactly what they tell them.
And not only in New York, kids, not only in New York.
