Andrew Cuomo, Zohran Mamdani and every other pro-crime candidate for mayor, please meet your running mate: Muslim Brunson.
Brunson is the paradigmatic example of the left’s failure on crime.
He slashed a 25-year old-woman in the neck with a broken bottle shard Monday, critically injuring her.
But Brunson’s been a known menace for years:
In 2019 he violently robs a 13-year-old boy; he gets a no-jail deal requiring mental health treatment.
Over the next three years, he goes through 36 hearings to “ensure” he’s complying — except he’s not: In 2020 and 2022, he’s hospitalized repeatedly for violent delusions, and let out each time.
In July 2022 he assaults a female NYPD worker, breaking her eyesocket, and assaults a cop days later after he’s tracked down for arrest.
He then gets another sweetheart deal in which he serves a year — a year — in prison, after the 2022 assault and the 2019 crime are rolled up into one.
After his August 2023 release, he dodges a charge around public lewdness in January 2024 despite still being on parole.
And then, this week, he breaks a bottle and goes after costume designer Megan Berg, slashing her throat open.
Lenient sentencing for violence? Check.
Waaaaaay too many chances for a deranged thug? Check.
A complete failure by our mental-health system to stop an obvious threat? Check.
But for pols like police-defunder Mamdani and Cuomo, who signed the disastrous 2019 criminal justice “reforms” into law and still defends them, this is the system working as planned.
Ignore petty crimes until they fester into violence; implicitly condone the violence until it explodes into even worse violence; treat mental illness with violent tendencies as no big deal.
All in the name of “equity” — with the contempt for the safety of law-abiding left unspoken.
And now yet another innocent may die.
So voters, when you fill out your ballots for mayor and the legislature and everything else, remember.
Cuomo, Mamdani and their bedfellows own Brunson and every other menace deliberately left at large.
A vote for any of them is a vote for him.
