POLITICS: A NYC judge’s migrant escape aid: Letters

The Issue: A Manhattan judge setting an illegal immigrant free despite a federal warrant for his arrest.

Judge Sheridan Jack-Browne allowed an alleged sexual predator to slip out the back of the courtroom, even though she held federal arrest warrants on him (“ ‘Releasing’ chaos in city,” Rafael A. Mangual, Feb. 3).

This insanity is getting all-too-typical with judges who undermine federal law.

Jack-Browne should face prosecution similar to Milwaukee Judge Hannah Dugan, who’s facing five years for the same conduct.

Justice in New York City has become whatever woke leftists need it to be to advance their political agenda and maintain power.

Judges like Jack-Browne are nothing more than compliant stooges of the unscrupulous political machine.

They’re too impressed with themselves to realize they’re really nothing but clowns in black robes.

Perhaps politicians like Tiffany Caban, Brad Lander and Shahana Hanif could explain the benefits of protecting an alleged sexual predator like Gerardo Miguel-Mora.

After all, according to them, people like him are our “newest neighbors.”

It’s time voters realize New York City politicians don’t care about their safety.

Heck, they don’t even care about the safety of the people they’re claiming to help.

It’s all about the next census, getting votes by any means necessary and staying in power.

It’s bad enough it happens with citizens, but even worse it happens with those who are here illegally, causing mayhem of varying degrees.

Why in God’s name would she let this animal sneak out the back door?

Would she feel the same way if he raped her daughter or relative?

I doubt it.

Miguel-Mora was here illegally and should therefore serve jail time, then be deported.

What justification could this judge have for setting this individual free, through the courthouse’s back door, no less?

She made the front page and perhaps that was her motivation.

This is not a good look for New York City’s judicial system and an irresponsible decision on her part.

The Issue: President Trump closing the Trump Kennedy Center for a two-year renovation.

There will be a lot of people who suspect President Trump closing the Kennedy Center for two years for renovations is just another example of him getting revenge against those who disagree with him, this time against performers and theater patrons (“Kennedy Center shutdown,” Feb. 2).

If he eventually allows the Trump Kennedy Center to re-open, one can only imagine the new and garish Trump-themed ornamentation that will be on display.

He may wish to consider the proverb, “The bitter heart eats its owner.”

Upon numerous performers refusing to perform at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center due to Trump’s name being added to the building, the president has decided to shut it down for a two-year renovation.

Trump is so full of himself that this is the only way he can think to save face.
