What Do You Think?

  1. There should also be a limit per person and no donations from companies. The limit should be no more than $500 per legal adult citizen(indexed to inflation).

  2. I believe that, and maybe there is a lot i don't understand or know, all those running for any political office should be able to do so FREELY! No more campaign contributions, no donations, no fund raising. Those that run, who can pass a battery of tests on the laws and how that particular position can utilize those laws, should get free air time on local tv. Setup a free website that any and all candidates can use to get their message out. Subsidize tv ads educating people who want to vote, to find this website and research their candidates. No more big money! Big companies are "donating" millions of dollars to get someone hired at $170kyear….without wanting SOMETHING in return. What did META get after Zuck donated $400mill to democrats in 2020???? You can't keep EVERYONE clean, because CASH still exists, but at least try to keep that big money from influencing our government.

  3. I love it EXCEPT these people will just funnel it through a local non profit owned by a shell company operating as an administrative control for these entities.

They’ll think of a way since they can just pay lawyers to show them how to bend the laws.

On another note: they aren’t representing the constituents anyway. They represent their own interests.

    That’s old news lol

  4. The 1st Amendment was ratified on December 15, 1791. The 27th Amendment was ratified on May 7, 1992. So we're looking at 201 years to ratify 27 Amendments. That means that's 1 Amendment every 7.4 years. However, it's been 33 years since the last Amendment was ratified. If this 28th Amendment gets passed in 2025. That would mean 1 Amendment gets ratified every 8.36 years.

  5. This is not a bad thing, however, it is not something congress has to add to the US constitution. The 28 states that support it can add it to their own state constitutions.

  6. What is the downside of this amendment? No discussion on this. Also what happens to party funding from out of state. Will Democrat and Republican parties lose some power too?

  7. I want the 28th Amendment to read… CONGRESS & SENATE SHOULD NOT GET "PERKS" AND HEALTH INSURANCE BETTER THAN WHAT WE the PEOPLE have!! Have them pay out of THEIR pocket, NOT OURS‼️‼️

  8. GOPs are guilty as well. IMO, I think they should cap the $ being raised across the board. Smaller, local city seats are up to X $ and State is X $, and so on. And all donations should be accounted for – none of this Act Blue BS, and no "free advertisements" unless equal for all parties in that race.

  9. If they can't vote in an election. They then vote with all their money.. Soros is one out of Country example. There's probably others. Seens simple. If you can't vote in an election. Then no donations.

  10. K, you are not being fair here. Musk was promoting enthusiasm for "registering to vote". He did not push either party…. he brought awareness to people, both sides, that its important to register and VOTE in our country. Don't see anything wrong with that, as there's too many citizens who never vote. He definitely is NOT comparable to Soros.

  11. Election integrity is at the very heart of any Democratic Election outcome!
If compromised every voter has the right to question every election outcome!

  12. But what if they use this amendment to block people within the state who are legal residents and create fake news in order to rigg the election and resist being held accountable like the court judge did without producing incriminating evidence but planting evidence against the law to protect their candidate from losing the election? Then what? There needs to be more accountability as they can β€œrecharacterise the language.” Just like a review board to make moral decisions about what can be shown in movie houses and what is inappropriatefor some viewing audiences taking the Lord’s name in vane until those apointed became inappropriately elected on the review board and questioned taking the Lords name e in vane and thus descensitised viewers because they hear it all the time and it no longer bothers them and soon the foxes and wolves creep in and the lambs do not smell fear and are devoured. Such an amendment needs to be carefully drafted with provisions against sabotaging the elections unfairly and using the media to print bad press that influences unsound individuals to commit unwarranted violence and rebelion against the innocent and descensitise voters to believe a lie. It’s a good amendment but needs careful fore thought.

  13. My wife and I are trying to decide what to eat for dinner. Do I want a neighbor two doors down telling us what to eat for the next month?

  14. This, in my opinion, is just a bandaid. We still suffer from the wealthy within our states donating more to their preferred candidates (likely for their own financial gain), while poverty stricken individuals can't donate. The entire system needs reformed. Those that struggle the most need to have the loudest voices. Not the people with the most money

  15. I think ALL money should be taken out of politics. Let the candidates campaign on social platforms, debate with unbiased moderators. If the candidates tell a blatant lie, they have to publicly take responsibility or resign. If they lie again, a permanent ban from public service. I would also add that no government employee shall be a dual citizen.

  16. Is it free speech if I hate someone and want them dead? No, the constitution doesn't give us all endless rights to the point that each persons rights even outweighs the others. Notice most laws in the constitution or that made up this country 240+ years ago have generally something in common–that you have absolute freedom protected from others up until the point that it interferes with someone else's freedom. So murder, theft, speech, ownership including guns, etc., all reinforce freedoms from being taken away but also only allow us freedom until that freedom infringes with others. I can own a gun, that doesn't mean it's implied I will use it on another person. Theft not only means I am protected from it but also that I cannot do it to another, murder, speech. If I am the one that will be subject to a law, then I am the one that should be deciding the person making the law. Corruption is an issue, so the decisions should be left in the hands of those who will be subject to them. Should my neighbor get to decide whether or not I get to own a grill or cut a tree that is directly in the middle of my yard and not infringing on his? Does he get to have say over what car I buy? No. I have no place making decisions on his behalf over his responsibilities and ownership, and neither should he have over mine. Should a neighbor get to decide how I raise y children or discipline them? If I am not abusing them, so I am not going above and beyond what is appropriate, then no, they should have no say. And neither should someone not subject to a lands laws have any say in them. I have no say over what Soros does with his money nor what police chief or governor is in place in Florida, being a resident of a different state and totally unaffected. My vote there shouldn't count and neither should my influence beyond being a good example or friend to someone that has stead over something I do not have say over.

  17. Thank you telling me about this. Ive been saying for decades to anybody who would listen (my children, mostly) that you must reside (or be a business) in the district where the vote is held.
So McDonald's can donate money to the mayors race in Springfield, but not in neighboring Troy, because Troy does not have a McDonald's.

  18. It also might be a good time to challenge the Supreme Court ruling that CORPORATIONS have free speech protections like private citizens and SPENDING MONEY is free speech.

  19. No foreigner should be allowed to contribute to any US election, campaign or otherwise. Persons living in other states is not an infringement on free speech if not allowed to contribute. Local elections belong to locals voices. I was outraged when a then B Obama was running for office in Illinois and I received a donation request by mail. I was never a resident of Illinois so I thought why the heck am I getting this and promptly threw it away. I was totally ignorant back then. But no I don’t agree with current allowances for campaigning/ election contributions

  20. No one honest genuinely argues that anonymous unlimited donations from ANY location to ANY party is free speech. It's just that free speech is constitutionally protected and MONEY is a superpower that can win almost any contest if left unregulated.
