He’s done it again. Impossible? Pshaw – I don’t think he knows the meaning of the word!
President Trump has brought the two bullheaded leaders of Russian and Ukraine to terms with a meeting that was resisted by both for YEARS, and considered even more unlikely than Epstein killing himself.
It wasn’t going to happen.
And now? We might have a MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH — thanks to President Trump’s tireless work and skill.
Remember when Zelensky got himself and the Ukrainian enterouge unceremoniously kicked out of the White House?
It certainly didn’t seem possible at that point that Zelensky could even be MADE to act the part of a good faith peace partner on behalf of his own country.
He rejected every attempt President Trump made to draw the two sides towards an end of hostilities:
BREAKING: Zelensky has rejected Trump’s proposal—no minerals deal, no recognition of U.S. aid as debt, & no direct talks with Putin.
He rejects diplomacy, refuses debt, & sits on valuable resources while begging for more money from U.S. taxpayers. pic.twitter.com/VPq7xSbUQS

At the time, one of the most plain spoken members of Team Trump came out with a blunt assessment.
According to President Trump’s Secretary of State less than a month ago, there was virtually no hope.
And Marco Rubio pinned the majority of the blame on Zelensky for refusing to even show up and act in good faith for a solution.
Here’s a clip of Rubio expressing complete lack of hope that anything can effectively be done to bring the two sides to a point agreement:
RUBIO: “The Ukraine war is a terrible thing, but it’s not our war … So we need to determine very quickly now, and I’m talking about a matter of days, whether or not [peace] is doable … If it is, we’re in. If it’s not, then we have other priorities to focus on.” pic.twitter.com/quHLyuN7ZG

And over the last few weeks, President Trump has relentlessly kept up the pressure on both sides.
At times, he’s played one side against the other, searching for ways to judo-move both sides closer to the same page, inch by painstaking inch.
And then last night, something changed. Suddenly, wrinkles started appearing in resistance to President Trump’s attempts.
Vladimir Putin messaged that he was ready to meet and negotiate with Zelensky.
BOOM! President Trump got Putin to come to the table!
#BREAKING: Russian President Vladimir Putin announces he has officially proposed DIRECT talks with Ukraine on May 15th – Reuters.
It would occur in Istanbul.
“We offer the Kyiv authorities to resume negotiations already on Thursday, in Istanbul.”

I’m sure the Progressives who tend to hold sway over these sorts of things will disagree (as opposed to the time they gave Barack Obama a Nobel Peace Price before he had a chance to do ANYTHING — GOOD OR BAD!)…
But just the fact that he got Putin to change his mind and put a GOOD FAITH FOOT FORWARD and agree to come back to the negotiating table with the Ukrainians for DIRECT TALKS is huge!
Worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize???
BREAKING
Putin offers to start negotiating with Ukraine this Thursday. Trump did the impossible

THIS IS A MASSIVE WIN

If Obama got one for doing nothing, President Trump should get one for doing SOMETHING.
But I’m fine with waiting for the peace to actually occur; I just hope someone brings that up again when it does!
As journalist Eric Daugherty shared Saturday night, Putin didn’t just agree to meet. He extended an open invitation to the “Kyiv authorities” to start negotiating again on THURSDAY in Turkey!
I believe at that point, President Trump knew he had both side where he wanted them; ready to make a deal.
And that’s when he applied pressure, and let all the seeds of pressure from weeks past do their work on Zelensky’s resolve.
Just a short time ago the Ukrainian leader’s resolve to KEEP THE WAR GOING — I believe — broke, thanks to President Trump’s ability to apply the right pressure in the right way at the right time.
Here’s what President Trump posted this morning, on the heels of getting Putin to agree to meet with the Ukrainians.
He took to Truth Social and simply DEMANDED that Zelensky “take the deal” — meaning that he take Putin up on his offer to MEET for the purpose of ending the war:
Here’s the full text of the President’s post, in which he DEMANDS that Zelensky take Putin up on his offer to have DIRECT TALKS:
President Putin of Russia doesn’t want to have a Cease Fire Agreement with Ukraine, but rather wants to meet on Thursday, in Turkey, to negotiate a possible end to the BLOODBATH. Ukraine should agree to this, IMMEDIATELY. At least they will be able to determine whether or not a deal is possible, and if it is not, European leaders, and the U.S., will know where everything stands, and can proceed accordingly! I’m starting to doubt that Ukraine will make a deal with Putin, who’s too busy celebrating the Victory of World War ll, which could not have been won (not even close!) without the United States of America. HAVE THE MEETING, NOW!!!
And almost unbelievably, within HOURS… President Trump had Zelensky accepting a face-to-face meeting in just a few days!
It wasn’t long before Putin extended the offer and President Trump applied pressure that Zelensky agreed, as report by Fox News:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed on Sunday to meet face-to-face with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey.
Putin initially proposed the Thursday meeting this weekend, and President Donald Trump prompted Zelenskyy to accept the offer. Putin said the talks in Istanbul must be held without preconditions and with the goal of lasting peace.
Putin has thus far offered few, if any, concessions but is now saying talks should address the root causes of the war. He said he would speak to Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan later on Sunday about facilitating the negotiations, which he said could result in a ceasefire.
“Our proposal, as they say, is on the table,” Putin said. “The decision is now up to the Ukrainian authorities and their curators, who are guided, it seems, by their personal political ambitions, and not by the interests of their peoples.”
The Russian leader said he does not rule out that Moscow and Kyiv will agree on “some new truces, a new ceasefire” during negotiations in Turkey, saying that the talks would be the first step toward a “sustainable” peace.
While Zelensky still sounds preoccupied with a temporary ceasefire, He did outright agree to personally show up at the talks, in Turkey, proposed by Putin!
Here’s his response to President Trump’s pressure and Putin’s invitation to talks:
Starting tomorrow, we await a ceasefire — this proposal is on the table. A full and unconditional ceasefire, one that lasts long enough to provide a necessary foundation for diplomacy, could significantly bring peace closer. That video message was shared by Zelensky on his X account along with this post:

Here’s the full written text that accompanied his video response:
Starting tomorrow, we await a ceasefire — this proposal is on the table. A full and unconditional ceasefire, one that lasts long enough to provide a necessary foundation for diplomacy, could significantly bring peace closer. Ukraine has long proposed this, our partners are proposing it, and the whole world is calling for it. We await a clear response from Russia.
Russia will have to end this war anyway. The killings must stop. Ukrainian forces will be ready to respond symmetrically— to ensure fairness. We have repeatedly heard from our partners that they are prepared to strengthen sanctions against Russia if Putin rejects a ceasefire. Time will tell.
Here in Ukraine, we have absolutely no problem engaging in negotiations, we are ready for any format. I will be in Türkiye this Thursday, May 15, and I expect Putin to come to Türkiye as well. Personally. And I hope that this time, Putin won’t be looking for excuses as to why he “can’t” make it.
We are ready to talk, to end this war. Thursday. Türkiye. President Trump has expressed support. All the leaders support this.
(Emphasis added.)
From the perspective of the Trump Administration’s continued march towards victory across the board, that’s a definite WIN!
Just check out the 5 day scoreboard highlighting 5 BIG successes right in a row:
Thursday: US-UK sign trade deal
Saturday: India-Pakistan ceasefire
Sunday: China-US reach a trade deal
Tuesday: Trump to visit the Middle East
Thursday: Putin-Zelensky to finally meet— End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) May 11, 2025
Interestingly, Putin never specified that he would personally be at the negotiating table in Turkey.
He didn’t say he wouldn’t be there, either.
But Zelensky’s response not only said he would be there in Turkey.
He actually called Putin out in response, taunting Putin in anticipation that he wouldn’t “PERSONALLY” show up, according to a report in the Independent:
Volodymyr Zelensky has said he will be waiting for Vladimir Putin in Turkey on Thursday, after Donald Trump insisted Ukraine agreed to talks with Russia.
The U.S. President demanded that Ukrainian officials “immediately” agree to meet with their Russian counterparts to negotiate a possible end to the “bloodbath” war waged on the country by Putin.
Trump was responding to the Russian leader’s proposal on Sunday for a meeting this coming week in Istanbul.
It is unclear whether such a meeting, were it to take place, would include the Russian leader himself.
Shortly after the president’s post went live, Zelensky said he would go to Turkey.
It is not known whether delegations from the U.S. or the European “coalition of the willing” will also participate in the talks. (Emphasis added.)
On that last point, one popular X account put two and two together and realized the same thing that is in my head right now.
What’s the chance that President Trump is trying to line up an in-person THREE-WAY meeting?
Is he attempting to coordinate a lasting peace deal between Russian and Ukraine in person, since he’s going to be in the neighborhood at the same time???
I’m just spitballing, but hear me out.
Trump is scheduled to be in the Middle East from Tuesday the 13th to Friday the 16th, visiting Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates.
What are the chances he makes a quick flight to Turkey while Putin and Zelensky are there?

Here’s the full text of that post, which I find intriguing and exciting:

It’s right there. Really not that far.
I’m not saying this will happen, I just find it interesting that Putin, Zelensky, and Trump, will all be relatively close to each other at the same time, while high-level negotiations are going on.
Is that the “very, very big announcement” that President Trump has been hinting at?
Only time will tell.
And it will take time to see if these steps in the right direction will actually materialize into something substantial.
Either one of these leaders could back out — they are a wily bunch, and there are powerful forces at work here beyond either of them working to keep the fighting raging for alternative agendas.
But if President Trump does coordinate a three-way peace deal with a surprise peace summit in Turkey on Thursday…
That would really be one for the history books!
