Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Wednesday that 16 people have been arrested in Minnesota for “allegedly assaulting federal law enforcement.”

“I am on the ground in Minneapolis today. Federal agents have arrested 16 Minnesota rioters for allegedly assaulting federal law enforcement — people who have been resisting and impeding our federal law enforcement agents,” Bondi said.

“We expect more arrests to come. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: NOTHING will stop President Trump and this Department of Justice from enforcing the law,” she continued.

“These are the names of those arrested today under 18 U.S. Code § 111 (Assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees),” Bondi said.

“Local Minnesota Police arrested violent rioters last night. Glad to see some state and local government cooperation. It’s a start!” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated.

CBS News has more:

In the days following the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti — the second Minnesotan killed by federal agents since the federal immigration crackdown began — Bondi urged state officials to scrap all “sanctuary” policies and “cooperate fully” with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, including giving the agency access to all local jails and honoring federal agents’ requests to detain people.

“I am confident that these simple steps will help bring back law and order to Minnesota and improve the lives of Americans,” Bondi wrote in her letter to the Gov. Tim Walz Saturday, which accused state officials of “anti-law enforcement rhetoric” and “putting federal agents in danger.”

Bondi also pushed the governor to let the federal government access the state’s voter rolls and public assistance data, saying it’s needed to “confirm that Minnesota’s voter registration practices comply with federal law.”

Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon responded with a statement Sunday saying: “The answer to Attorney General Bondi’s request is no.”

Bondi shared pictures of some of the arrested individuals:

FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul shared further:

The exact circumstances of the crimes against them aren’t yet known, though FOX 9 is familiar with the circumstances of Nasra Ahmed’s arrest. Ahmed said at a news conference last week that she was detained by federal agents after an incident in her neighborhood in St. Paul.

Ahmed claimed she was wrongly arrested after she unknowingly found herself caught in the middle of the arrest of two Somali men by ICE. Ahmed claimed she was called a racial slur by agents, assaulted, and held in Sherburne County Jail for two days.

However, the Department of Homeland Security accused Ahmed of assaulting agents but did not share details behind the incident.

Christina Rank was arrested after a vehicle crash involving a federal officer on Jan. 12. The Pioneer Press reports she was held at Whipple for nearly 12 hours before being released.

According to an ABC News report, William Vermie, a military veteran, was arrested while observing an ICE arrest in his neighborhood.
