Two Delta regional jets collided while taxing at LaGuardia Airport in New York City Wednesday evening.

The collision occurred shortly before 10 p.m. local time.

“The scene from our @CBSNews producer on board DL5714. He reports they were taxing to the gate at LGA after landing at CLT when they were struck by another Delta regional jet that was taxiing by,” CBS News senior transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave said.

The right wing of one plane collided with the nose of the other plane, according to Air Traffic Control audio.

The pilots reported damage to their windshield and at least one injured, according to the ATC audio.

A LaGuardia Airport spokesperson confirmed to Daily Mail that one individual sustained injuries from the collision.

Daily Mail noted:

‘A single person onboard one of the aircraft suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital as a precautionary measure,’ the spokesperson said.

‘They were taxing to the gate at LGA after landing at CLT when they were struck by another Delta regional jet that was taxiing by,’ a CBS News producer who was onboard DL5047 claimed.

Pictures taken in the aftermath of the crash show the nose of at least one of the planes suffered significant damage.

Crew members and passengers were seen on the tarmac, along with police, after the incident occurred.

‘Passengers were deplaned on the taxiway and transferred via buses back to Terminal C,’ the airport spokesperson said.

‘Passengers on the departing planes will be rebooked to another flight.’

The minor crash had no further impact to airport operations.
