Former FBI Director Dan Bongino weighed in on the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie.
For the last two weeks, both Arizona authorities and Federal agents have been searching for the mother of NBC Star Savannah Guthrie, Nancy Guthrie, after she went missing from her Arizona home.
The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy has raised several eyebrows, considering the family of Nancy has reported they have received a ransom note from the suspected kidnapper, who is demanding $6 million worth of Bitcoin.
Dan Bongino gave his thoughts on the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie and stated, “There’s something not right about the story.”
Sean Hannity provided Bongino’s full explanation:
“I see three possibilities. The first is that this was obviously a kidnapping—an intended kidnapping for a ransom payment. The second possibility is that this was just a crime that went awry.
Someone was at the house, maybe it was a burglary, something went bad, and you have some bad actors committing another crime by requesting a ransom for something they didn’t do, just to take advantage of a situation like this.
The third possibility is that there may have been some kind of medical emergency or something, and maybe this was not a kidnapping. When you can’t find someone in a crime scene like this right away, within the first couple of days, you either have really good, surgical-type operators, or the story you’ve been told—or believed—might not be the story.”

People reported the latest FBI developments in the case:
A deadline to pay $6 million in bitcoin demanded by the alleged kidnappers of Nancy Guthrie has passed — and federal authorities say they are “not aware” of any contact between the family and unidentified suspects.
PEOPLE previously reported, citing sources with knowledge of the situation, that a ransom note sent to local Arizona television stations KOLD and KGUN, along with TMZ, specified two separate sums the family must pay: $4 million in bitcoin due Thursday, Feb. 5, and, if that was not met, an increased demand of $6 million by Monday, Feb. 9.
Thursday’s deadline passed without a payment being made, giving the family until 5 p.m. local time Monday to make the $6 million payment, according to the sources.
It is unclear if this deadline was met as the FBI did not disclose that information in a statement provided to PEOPLE just after 5 p.m. Monday.
“The FBI is not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers,” said FBI Phoenix Spokesperson Connor Hagan, per the statement.
This comes amid a massive investigation into Nancy’s disappearance, who was last seen at her home in Tucson on the night of Saturday, Jan. 31 after being dropped off by family following a dinner.
