According to RealClearPolitics national political correspondent Susan Crabtree, a female Secret Service trainee accidentally shot herself in the leg at the Secret Service’s Rowley Training Center.

“According to @SusanCrabtree, who first broke the story, a female special agent trainee accidentally shot herself in the leg on Wednesday at the Secret Service’s Rowley Training Center in South Laurel, Maryland,” Rawsalerts wrote.

“According to Susan Crabtree she says that Multiple sources within the Secret Service community report that she was airlifted to a Baltimore hospital emergency room. The incident allegedly occurred due to an accidental discharge while holstering her weapon. The extent of her injuries remains unknown as the situation continues to develop,” the post added.

“The incident comes amid concerns over the agency’s DEI policies, which whistleblowers claim have weakened training standards. Under former Director Kimberly Cheatle, the agency pushed for 30% female recruitment by 2030, raising questions about readiness and hiring practices,” Mario Nawfal wrote.

“I’ll provide more details about the circumstances of how and why this occurred when they become available. The incident occurred amid deep concerns that the Secret Service’s DEI policies contributed to the failures on J13 and created an opening for Thomas Crooks to assassinate Trump and kill rallygoer Corey Comperatore,” Crabtree wrote.

“Under the Biden administration’s sweeping DEI executive order, former Secret Service Dir. Kimberly Cheatle signed onto the 30×30 national DEI initiative,” she continued.

“It calls for all law enforcement agencies in the country to have at least 30% of their forces be women by the year 2030. One of the reasons? Because women make fewer arrests. This 30×30 initiative and the way Cheatle is implementing it in hiring decisions and training qualifications was a major focus of an online petition and its whistleblowers’ concerns that it was impacting Secret Service training, readiness, and performance. This petition was circulating BEFORE the assassination attempts against Trump,” she added.

“I’m told by the time Cheatle left under pressure from Congress after J13, she boosted women agents and uniformed officers to 24% — just 6% shy of the 30×30 pledge,” Crabtree noted.

“Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi confirms that a special agent trainee ‘sustained a non-life-threatening injury’ during a firearms training exercise on Monday, Feb. 10 and notes the incident is under internal review,” Crabtree said in an update on Friday.

“‘The trainee was transported by the Maryland State Police to an area hospital for evaluation and subsequently discharged the same day,’ Guglielmi told @RCPolitics in a statement. ‘The trainee is recovering well, and the incident is under review by the Office of Professional Responsibility,’” Crabtree continued.

“Special Agent trainees can get disqualified for mishandling weapons, but my experience covering the agency for more than a dozen years leads me to believe it won’t happen to this particular female agent. Other than this incident, I’m told she was previously a Secret Service Uniformed Division officer (they guard the White House) who never had a previous incident with her weapon. Also, heard that she’s smart and otherwise performing well,” she added.
