Although President Donald Trump had a lengthy list of priorities to tackle upon entering office for a second term, he nevertheless found time to address a number of other important, albeit less conspicuous, problems.

One notable example involved his overhaul of the Kennedy Center’s board of directors.

His changes upset some of the leftist performers scheduled to appear at the venue, but Trump’s supporters generally saw it as an effort to renovate a once-revered public institution.

Trump visited the Kennedy Center on Monday and told reporters shortly thereafter that there is a lot more work to be done, as The Hill reported:

“I’m very disappointed when I look around. The bottom line: It has tremendous potential. And we’ll work with Congress. … It’s a very public facility, and we’ll do what has to be done,” Trump said.

“We’re going to fix it up, but it’s really emblematic of our country,” he said.

It’s the first time Trump stepped foot in the space since announcing in February that he would boot multiple members of the Kennedy Center’s board and serve as its chair. He accused the prominent arts hub of being too “woke” and appointed Richard Grenell, his envoy for special missions, as its interim executive director.

His tour and subsequent remarks became the topic of significant social media discussion throughout the day:

The New York Post provided additional coverage of the presidential visit:

“This represents a very important part of DC, and actually our country and I think it’s important to make sure that our country is in good shape and is represented well,” Trump went on.

“When people look at this, I’ve been hearing for a long time that they come here, and they’re very disappointed when they come here. We want them to be excited.”

The effort to renovate the Kennedy Center is a part of Trump’s larger agenda to “clean up” DC by cracking down on crime, removing homeless encampments and dismantling Black Lives Matter Plaza.

He said the musical “Les Misérables” is coming to the center and that, over time, the performances there will improve.

Here’s some additional coverage of Trump’s response to the current state of the Kennedy Center:
