Pope Francis has reportedly experienced an array of health issues over the last year that have led some to speculate that he could resign from his position.

Those rumors were given a new life after the Pope canceled a trip to Africa due to knee pain.

The pope has a number of other health issues as well.  He had colon surgery last year and struggles with sciatica.

Last May, he told Bishops that he would rather resign than get surgery for his knee.

The rumors were further confirmed as reporter Megyn Kelly went to the Vatican and saw unusual activity.

Some have speculated that his resignation is imminent and could happen in a matter of days or weeks.

Resignation rumors are gaining traction in the wake of a series of unusual activities by the 85-year-old leader of the Catholic Church, according to a report.

Francis, who has been confined to a wheelchair due to crippling knee pain, canceled a scheduled trip to Africa, the report noted.

He has also supposedly called for a meeting of cardinals, which the Washington Examiner is unable to confirm.

It is this highly unusual meeting that is fueling the resignation rumors, the report noted.

“Inside the Vatican, moments ago, we saw a ton of cardinals, which our guide tells us is highly unusual,” Megyn Kelly, who is in Vatican City, posted to social media.
