Infowars host Owen Shroyer received a 60-day prison sentence Tuesday relating to January 6th at the U.S. Capitol.

Shroyer received the sentence despite neither entering the U.S. Capitol or facing accusations of committing violence on the U.S. Capitol grounds.

As 100 Percent Fed Up noted, federal prosecutors accused Shroyer of ‘speech crimes.’

Federal Prosecutors Seek 120-Day Prison Sentence For Owen Shroyer

From our prior report:

Politico senior legal affairs reporter Kyle Cheney shared a court document saying “Shroyer spread election disinformation paired with violent rhetoric to hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of viewers.”

“And, on January 6, 2021, Shroyer took to a megaphone before leading a crowd to the Capitol,” the document read.

“He continued marching around to the top of the east steps chanting ‘1776!,’ where rioters would eventually violently breach the Capitol and its police line and halt the transfer of presidential power. Shroyer did not step foot inside the Capitol, he did not need to; many of those who listened to him did instead,” the document continued.

“Shroyer helped created January 6. The government respectfully requests that this Court sentence him to 120 days of incarceration, 12 months of supervised release, 60 hours of community service, and $500 in restitution,” the document read.

NBC News reports:

Owen Shroyer is one of only a handful of Jan. 6 participants charged with a crime despite neither entering the Capitol building nor being accused of committing violence or destruction on Capitol grounds. Prosecutors charged Shroyer because he had previously signed a deferred prosecution agreement after interrupting a congressional hearing in 2019 and had agreed as part of that case not to utter “loud, threatening, or abusive language, or to engage in any disorderly or disruptive conduct, at any place upon the United States Capitol Grounds.”

About 1,100 defendants have been charged in connection with the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol attack, and more than 600 have been sentenced, including more than 370 to periods of incarceration.

“Democrats are posing as communists, but we know what they really are: they’re just tyrants, they’re tyrants,” Shroyer said on a bullhorn as he led a crowd to the Capitol on Jan. 6. “And so today, on January 6, we declare death to tyranny! Death to tyrants!”

Reporter Savanah Hernandez accurately noted Shroyer was sentenced for his inalienable right to free speech.

He was also sentenced for doing his job as a journalist.

“Owen Shroyer, a journalist, has now been sentenced to two months in federal prison for the crime of his speech. He never called for violence, but because he expressed ideas that made people mad, he’s responsible for, as they put it ‘stoking the flames,’” Infowars Harrison H. Smith wrote.

Infowars noted:

War Room host Owen Shroyer has been sentenced to 60 in prison for his role in January 6, according to reports.

“I was not a part of any larger plan for illegal activity or violence that day,” said Shroyer Tuesday morning to the D.C. court according to NBC News.

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly sentenced Shroyer. Last week, he sent Proud Boys founder Enrique Tarrio to federal prison for a record-setting term of 22 years.
