I’m going to try and write this article without any bias of any kind.
Just the facts, ma’am!
I’m not sure if I will succeed but here it goes…
President Trump came out with what seems like is a bit of a non-sequitur post today on TruthSocial about political persecution against Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel.
Here’s the post and then we’ll break it all down:

It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu. He is a War Hero, and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran. Importantly, he is right now in the process of negotiating a Deal with Hamas, which will include getting the Hostages back. How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a Courtroom all day long, over NOTHING (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc.). It is a POLITICAL WITCH HUNT, very similar to the Witch Hunt that I was forced to endure. This travesty of “Justice” will interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations. In other words, it is INSANITY doing what the out-of-control prosecutors are doing to Bibi Netanyahu. The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this. We just had a Great Victory with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu at the helm — And this greatly tarnishes our Victory. LET BIBI GO, HE’S GOT A BIG JOB TO DO!

In case you haven’t been following this case (it’s been very long), here’s a quick summary of everything so far:
November 2019: Netanyahu was indicted on charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three separate cases—primarily involving gifts and media influence.
May 2020: His trial officially began after he failed to secure parliamentary immunity.
April 2021: Witness testimony phase began, including testimony from former aides who turned state witnesses.
2023–2024: Prosecution reduced its witness list to speed up the trial. By mid-2024, the prosecution rested its case after calling over 300 witnesses.
Late 2024: Netanyahu testified in his own defense, a significant moment in the trial amid ongoing conflict in Gaza.
2024–2025: The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu related to alleged war crimes in Gaza, separate from the corruption trial.
March 2025: A new scandal emerged involving alleged Qatari influence over Netanyahu’s advisers.
June 2025: Cross-examination phase began. The trial is expected to continue into 2026. Requests to delay or cancel the trial have been denied by the Israeli courts.
In the interest of fair reporting, I will state that SOME believe October 7th was allowed to happen by Netanyahu in order to make him a “war time” President, as political leaders almost immediately gain large support when their country is at war.
I’m not saying I do or don’t believe that, but many claim that the Israeli military and intelligence (especially with US backing) is so strong that it’s almost inconceivable that they allowed some jihadis in hang gliders to infiltrate their defenses and there was no official response of any kind for over 6 hours.
Again, just the facts ma’am….you make up your own mind.
Moving on….
It’s not the first time President Trump has voiced this opinion.
Just three days earlier, Reuters reported very similar comments from President Trump:
U.S. President Donald Trump has called for Israel to pardon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or cancel his corruption trial, saying the U.S. would save him like it did his country.
Netanyahu was indicted in 2019 in Israel on charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust – all of which Netanyahu denies. The trial began in 2020 and involves three criminal cases. He has pleaded not guilty.
“Bibi Netanyahu’s trial should be CANCELLED, IMMEDIATELY, or a Pardon given to a Great Hero, who has done so much for the State (of Israel),” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday, adding that he had learned that Netanyahu was due to appear in court on Monday.
Israel’s opposition leader Yair Lapid said Trump should keep out of the matter. “With all due respect and gratitude to the president of the United States, he’s not supposed to intervene in a legal process of an independent state,” Lapid said.
“I hope and suppose that this is a reward he (Trump) is giving him (Netanyahu) because he is planning to pressure him on Gaza and force, to force him into a hostage deal that will end the war,” Lapid told Israeli news website Ynet.
Trump extolled Netanyahu as a “warrior” but also said in his post: “It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu.”
That appeared to be a reference to U.S. involvement and support for Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear program.
It was unclear if Trump meant the U.S. could do anything to aid Netanyahu in his legal battle.
The Republican president described the case against the Israeli leader as a “witch hunt,” a term Trump has frequently applied to U.S. attempts to prosecute him and the same term Netanyahu has used to describe his own long-running trial.
Ok, now I’ll end with a few comments.
If you want “just the facts ma’am” tune out now.
I really struggle to make heads or tails of this sharply divided debate over Israel.
On the one hand, the Bible seems to say that God will bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who curse Israel.
That’s a pretty strong statement, given not just in Genesis God speaking to Abraham and his lineage, but later confirmed in Numbers specifically tied to Israel. Most people don’t know that.
On the flip side, there’s a serious debate about whether Biblical Israel, the people group spoken about in the Torah, is the same as the modern day Nation state of Israel.

And to be honest?
I still don’t know the right answer.
But I know it shouldn’t be illegal or you shouldn’t be smeared for simply wanting to ask the question or have a discussion about it. That seems wrong.
So here are a few simple truths I do think I can stand behind 100% in this whole debate.

Truth #1: Believing our politicians should support America first and foremost ABOVE Israel should not even be controversial (and yet it is):
Supporting America FIRST over Israel does NOT make you anti-Semitic or anti-Israel.

Truth #2: If you are upset the war was ended, you’re a bad person. You’re entirely on the wrong side of history, rooting for more war because it either makes you feel more powerful or you profit from it. That’s sick.
If you’re SAD and UPSET the Iran/Israel war is over, you are on the wrong side of history.

Truth #3: If you didn’t support President Trump using PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH to end this quickly, you’re also wrong. Pure isolationism and pure pacifism does not work. Trump brought us the best possible outcome in the quickest way possible.
Now the flip side. If you had a problem with Trump bombing Iran to end this quickly — peace through strength — you are also wrong.

Final opinion: President Trump has a history of shining the spotlight on people and not always for the best reasons. A sort of “keep your friends close and your enemies closer” thing. Is that what he’s doing here with Netanyahu? I don’t know, but I’m watching.
