I think itβs pretty safe to say that we are witnessing the (once)mainstream media implode before our eyes.
After news of the left-wing network canceling Joy Reidβs show leaked on Sunday, MSNBC has announced that they are dropping three other shows, as well.
Weekend shows hosted by anchors Ayman Mohyledin, Katie Phang, and Jonathan Capehart are all on the chopping block.
None of these anchors are being fired, per se, but MSNBC says they will be moved to other capacities.
Take a look:

Now, before this news dropped, I hadnβt heard the names of any of these anchors myself (have you?)
But, MSNBCβs purge seems to be angering a lot of liberals who are calling the outlet βracistβ and accusing them of bending the knee to President Trump!
Take a look at some of these responses on X:
So um @msnbc β itβs Craig your sometimes unpaid who should be paid consultantβ¦ Just curious β HAVE YOU LOST YOUR F****** Mind?
MSNBC racist purge escalates. @Ayman, @Katie Phang and @JonathaCapehart ousted along with @JoyReid and @AlexWagner β

Huh. Joy Reid, Katie Phang, Ayman Mohyeldin & Jonathan Capeheart. All their shows were just suddenly canceled on MSNBC. I wonder what they have in common. Somethingβs just not white here.

I guess MSNBC isnβt making anyone happy anymore!
Maybe thatβs why theyβre bleeding money and having to cut βtalentββ¦
The New York Post reported:
The overhaul at the left-leaning network by new president Rebecca Kutler also includes axing weekend shows hosted by Ayman Mohyeldin, Jonathan Capehart, Katie Phang and Jose Diaz-Balart.
Kutlerβs rearranging of the anchor chairs comes after news leaked Sunday that Reid was getting the boot. Her show, βThe Reidout,β will be replaced by the hosts of βThe Weekendβ β Michael Steele, Symone Sanders-Townsend and Alicia Menendezβ¦
Kutlerβs moves to shake up the network have angered some MSNBC insiders.
She is βcanceling two hosts that made history. Alex Wagner is [the] first Asian-American primetime host and Joy Reid was the first black woman cable primetime host,β one source told The Post.
βSheβs tough and very corporate. Not a lot of people like her but she gets things done.β
Capehart and Mohyeldin will lose their current weekend shows and move to new roles.
Capehart will take over anchoring the morning edition of βThe Weekend, β while Mohyeldin will helm the evening version of the program.
Phang and Diaz-Balart, who helm shows from Miami, were told their programs will end as the network sunsets its South Florida-based operations, according to the network.
Phang will stay on as a legal correspondent.
Diaz-Balart is employed by Telemundo and NBC News β anchoring the networkβs weekend nightly news broadcast.
Daily Mail added:
MSNBC has axed another three of its starsβ shows after canceling Joy Reidβs program.
Katie Phang, Jonathan Capehart and Ayman Mohyeldin have also been given the boot from their current timeslots, according to the New York PostΒ βΒ who obtained the insight from a network source.
Mohyeldin, who hosts Ayman Mohyeldin Reports, will broadcast its final episode on April 20 at 7pm, a spokesperson confirmed.
It remains unclear when Capehart and Phang β who each also have their own weekend shows β will host their final installments.
Mohyeldin and Capehart are said to be getting new shows in different timeslots β though the details surrounding them have yet to be announced.
Phang, meanwhile, is now the networkβs legal correspondent, after already serving as legal analyst for NBCUniversal since 2017.Β Her show is filmed from MSNBCβs SouthΒ Florida studios, which the network is now set to shutter, sources told the Post.
News of the impending bloodbath comes hours after Joy Reidβs The Reid Out was canceled amid tanking ratings β a decisionΒ leaked early Sunday and confirmed by her bosses just hours later.
If this isnβt enough good news for you, we also found out earlier that Lester Holt will be stepping down from NBCβs Nightly News.
