First Lady Melania Trump opened her two-day Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit by calling on representatives from more than 40 nations to work on expanding access to education and technology for children around the world.
On Tuesday, the first lady’s inaugural summit began for her Fostering the Future Together initiative, which she announced last year at the United Nations General Assembly.
“As people we dream. As leaders we progress. As nations we will build,” she said in her opening remarks. “Beginning today, let’s accelerate our new global alliance, this bond, to positively impact the progress of our children.”
Trump highlighted the “unprecedented” gathering of people attending the summit.
“Nowhere else could such a concentration of excellence be assembled. From AI pioneers like OpenAI, Palantir and xAI, to tech platforms like Google and Meta, creative engines like Adobe and Microsoft, plus human connectivity through Zoom Communications,” she said.
“This room is filled with extraordinary human capital,” she noted, calling on leaders to “harness” their resources to “elevate” children, “empower” people and “accelerate” economies.
International figures also included Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s wife, Olena Zelenska, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s wife, Sara Netanyahu.
She asked these participants to form regional networks, conduct research and establish partnerships across sectors to “cultivate the skills young people need to be successful in this rapidly evolving world.”
She emphasized the importance of concrete ideas and solutions to provide youths around the world with TechEd opportunities, as well as setting aside political differences to achieve their goals.
“Our shared vision prioritizes children above political philosophy, geographical borders, and local prejudices,” Trump proclaimed.
The White House announced that this meeting marked the first time in U.S. history that a first lady has hosted representatives from 45 countries at once at the executive residence, not to mention the 28 tech entities represented.
“Fostering the Future Together’s model further supports First Lady Melania Trump’s pursuit of action-oriented diplomacy on the global stage,” the White House said in a statement. It added that it is “a long-term initiative, with member nations spanning from multiple continents. A sampling of member nations includes The United States of America, France, Poland, Panama, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Lithuania, Nigeria, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, Aruba, Morocco, Kenya, and Israel.”
